THEORIES FOR NEXT SEASON

1. Just like the explosion of the first hatch gave Desmond those time-jumping powers, the moving of the island will have released a similar effect. I suspect that it has now endowed the Oceanic survivors with the same abilities as Ben's old crew (you know the whispery stealth stuff). They are officially inducted which is why in three years, they never left.
2. I think Widmore use to run things on the island, possibly as far back as Black Rock, and he had to move the island and that is why he is so desperate to get back. Though as Ben said, you can't.
3. Locke showing up dead suggests that Ben wants to go back and fill that void and is using the Oceanic 6.

Jeremy Bentham has something else interesting going for him.
The proposal for a prison called the Panopticon.
"Panopticon is a type of prison building designed by English philosopher Jeremy Bentham in 1785. The concept of the design is to allow an observer to observe (-opticon) all (pan-) prisoners without the prisoners being able to tell whether they are being watched, thereby conveying what one architect has called the 'sentiment of an invisible omniscience.'"
Bentham himself described the Panopticon as 'a new mode of obtaining power of mind over mind, in a quantity hitherto without example.'"

I don't think Locke is dead in the same way that Christian Shephard is dead (or as Obi-Wan Kenobi is dead). I think he's either going to be full-on resurrected, or there's another Locke created through time travel. After all, Locke was just introduced to the Orchid video, which is probably the same one that goes on to show that the time machine duplicated the #15 rabbit.

The Panopticon is an amazing concept that I've used in the past as a high school debate coach to explain the concept of disciplinary power. Why use boring old top-down plenary power when you can have the people control themselves? Some of you Lostie power thinkers might be ahead of me on this one, but... I just realized that we've seen what happens to Ben right after he turns the Big Wheel. He ends up in the desert, in a parka, treating the arm that he hurt from falling off the ladder.

3) if you watch the crash again, you can actually see the baby fly out of kate's grasp, slam into hurley's face, and land safely back in Kate's arms. The bruise on Hurley's face can be seen in the following raft scenes.
