Need your brainstorming help - TODAY
Latifah from ACot called me for some creative inspiration and now I am calling on all of you.
There is a big event coming up on June 5th to celebrate Create Austin and she is hoping to make a call out to all the creative types in town to participate in some big spectacle before marching over to the Capitol in support of the Create Austin bill.
There will probably be some sort of aerial shot of the event as part of it.
So the criteria are:
1. It gives people the chance to be creative
2. It gives people the chance to be connected to the rest of the improv community.
3. It is simple in the basic idea, nothing too involved
4. Nothing that is prop-heavy for success.
So far I have thought about a huge human sculpture garden or having everyone lay on the lawn posing as heiroglyphs.
She is hoping that I can come back to her today with a few good ideas.
What can you offer AIC?

What is Create Austin and why does it need celebrating?Asaf wrote: to celebrate Create Austin

Something I've wanted to do for a while is an epic SLOW-MOTION Battle. Preferably with 100 people or more split into two armies. All it requires is a field and a lot of people.

If it doesn't happen for this, I plan on putting it together sometime soon, hopefully in the Fall, when it's not so ungodly hot.LeannRose wrote:I put in a vote for the epic slow motion battle. That would rock and I'd totally be up for participating.

The capitol or city hall? the logistics are a little different depending on the site. Also - how many people are we talking about?Asaf wrote:marching over to the Capitol
If you weren't there for the silent dance party at the capitol - that was a lot of fun - and it's scalable. If not - I'll throw in another vote for the epic battle scene.
I LOVE the idea of a Slo-mo themed event, just not too keen on the whole "fighting" aspect. Perhaps a race or something less violent.....ooooh....a Slo-mo rave-orgy like the one they did in th 2nd Matrix flic, only our's won't look as contrived.

One way of mitigating the heat would be for everyone to carry an umbrella for personal shade. This would also identify participants as being part of a group and would make participants more visible in an aerial view (as well as disguising those individuals in the witness protection program).
I know - umbrellas are props, but they're not exactly rare.
Maybe we could form molecules with our unfurled umbrellas as "atoms" and undergo chemical reactions. Maybe the "atoms" could discuss why they want to interact (or not) with other molecules ...
Note: June 5th is a Thursday. I wonder what time of day the event would be. Could greatly impact participant availability.

I need different ideas. It is not something we are going to put together. ACoT is just to us to help create what the thing is. I already passed on the slow motion battle as the best idea, along with some subpar ideas that I had.
So if there are any new ideas, I would love to pass them on to Latifah as well.
As far as where the march is to, I don't remember, but we do not have to worry about the logistics. They are putting it together. They just want to borrow our imagination.
So, any other great ideas?

Something I want to do for Halloween, but which would work just as well, here... a full deck of cards, each card played by a person, ala Alice in Wonderland. Sandwich board front and backs, showercap hats... all led by a Queen of Hearts.
You know, these dudes:

Everyone could line up in ranks and the queen could play games against someone dressed up as Alice.
Note: this requires a lot more preparation, but is still pretty awesome.

a sensory "stations of the cross"
large groups of blindfolded people are guided to pit stops, where they encounter a strong stimulus:
the ring of tuning forks
the spray of mist
the taste of a shot of lemon juice
the smell of a smelly goat
silk, sandpaper, chocolate, walking on bubble wrap, heat lamps, fuzzy kittens, etc etc etc
when they get to the capital the blindfold comes off
