How freakin' cold-blooded! Alex was a cutie. So sad...

Widmore and Benry face-off. "Changed the rules?" Hunh? Just vernacular or something more?

(sing to Smoke on the Water) "Smokie on the slaughter..."

Ben is a clone of Widmore from another time line in a parallel dimension.

I don't know about that, but I know there is a balance that is maintained by both of them existing.

"Have you come here to kill me?"

"You and I both know that I can't do that."

Wow.

And also insinuated by the conversation...he moved the fucking island!

Yeah, dude. There were some big reveals. Changing rules, moving islands. So, how long have Widmore and Ben been fighting, etc...?

TOP TEN THINGS WE LEARNED FROM LAST NIGHT'S EPISODE:

10) Sayid is a killer.
9) The show IS TOO ABOUT TIME TRAVEL!!!
8 ) Locke still doesn't know what the hell is going on.
7) Ben looks great in a scarf.
6) There's some kind of smoke creature on the island.
5) Sawyler is in love with Hurly.
4) Widmore is an alcoholic.
3) Sun and Jin are dead.
2) Ben is the worst father ever (or worst fake father ever).
1) Claire is rocket-proof.

Yeah, this was really strange/neat. The only alternative I could see to Ben moving the island is if the island had some weird property like Jacob's cabin, where it either moves on its own or it's just incredibly hard to find each time.

SPOILER ALERT ...

Is not!! It was the first time I ever remember seeing Ben cry, so his affection for her was genuine. He just made an arrogantly bad "call." And that was also genuine disbelief on his face when the commando called his bluff. A thoroughly evil guy would not have been so affected by that turn of events. And even the best parent has been known to make a tragic mistake. That's what makes it such a tragedy.

I don't see Ben as evil. I see him as an emotionally damaged guy trying his best to survive in a capriciously dangerous environment. I'm glad to see his character being given such complexity and depth. One-dimensional villains are so boring! And he might actually turn out to BE a "good guy" ... in some obscurely twisted way, heh heh heh.

Yeah, I was just being sarcastic. I agree, the cool thing about Ben's character is that we don't know whether he is "good or evil." The layering of his character is complex and last night's episode "peeled" another new layer for us. He was playing by "the rules" (whatever those are) and got hosed. But we still don't know what his full agenda is.

I'm still hoping to see some more to Locke. He used to be my favorite character. Desmond almost took over that title. Now it's Ben.

If anyone has ever read Neil Gaiman's Sandman, Ben really reminds me of Lucifer in that he has certain morals, and others that he feels no need to keep. Also, while Lucifer is evil in the books, he is ultimately a guy who is just playing with the hand he has been dealt. He is a little victimize by the fact that this is who he is, the role he has to play.

To a certain degree I see some of these things in Ben, particularly just playing with the hand you are dealt.

As a pan dimensional time traveling alien clone he's been dealt quite a hand.

I thought that he meant that he put the full-force magnetic time vortex mojo back on it however that works, and hid it from him that way. Although, a floating island with an outboard motor would be cool, too.

And yeah, killing the daughter (and the other two for reals, apparently) was pretty cold. Totally needed to happen, but, damn.

I'm still waiting for the scientific explanation of the Cerberus monster. That's some crazy shit, right there.

Also, yeah, still pulling for Ben to be some kind of good guy in a twisted way. He's just way too bad not to be good.

You guys have some awesome comments. I loved the new episode. I'll say more soon.

What I like to think is that Ben walked through the door in his cellar and then woke up in Tunisia. Then he handled his biz and went back to the cellar on the island somehow.

It's more likely that he just signaled the smoke monster somehow, but still.

Best smoke monster scene ever, ever, ever. Season 4 is the way best season. They've set the bar pretty high now. I hope seasons 5 and 6 can match it or top it.

I remember when those suckers who write the show said that there wasn't anything supernatural going on.

seriously! that house was destroyed. And she was tossed lightly outside...the island must not want her to die? ...yet.
