Call for Submissions for Art Spark Festival

Take advantage of the people, toys, and performance venues that the HBMG Foundation has assembled for the 2008 ArtSpark Festival, which begins May 26th and ends August 17th.

If you choose to play, applications must be postmarked by April 14, 2008.

IGNITION

- THEATRE and VIDEO GAME DESIGN adventurers will develop a new play or video game inspired by an original piece of visual art and a composition of music made by the visual artist and musician.

- VISUAL ARTISTS and MUSICIANS produce new works during this twelve week collaboration, in response to their ArtSpark experience.

- MARKETERS promote public showcases featuring all ArtSpark creators and their new masterpieces.

- The HBMG Foundation will pair individuals to form TEN CREATIVE TEAMS: Five Creative Teams will include a Visual Artist, Musician(s), Marketer, and Theatre group. The other five Creative Teams will include a Visual Artist, Musician(s), Marketer, and Video Game Design team.

IMAGINATION

The HBMG Foundation will supply each ArtSpark Creative Team with a private OFFICE to work from, complete with:
- Computer
- Software
- Internet Access
- Copier/Printer

Expand your talents in large WORKSPACES provided for rehearsals, conferences, practice, and anything else your team's got in mind.

Spend the supplied BUDGET for your specific projects:
- $100 for each Marketer
- $100 or four hours of recording time for each Musician/Music Group
- $400 for each Theatre Company
- $400 for each Video Game Design Team
- $100 for each Visual Artist

Think smart about your art with WORKSHOPS that cover:
- How to protect your intellectual property
- How to raise funds for creative endeavors
- How to market yourself
- How to break into various arts/entertainment industries

Take advantage of MENTORS, industry professionals that come in to answer questions, offer advice, and critique your work.

CREATION

- You will finish the Festival with a completed work and you will OWN THE RIGHTS.

- You will be featured in a PUBLIC SHOWCASE held at one of five popular Austin venues:
1.) Premiere your play at the Off Center, home to the Rude Mechanicals.
2.) Exhibit your art at the 1,000 sq ft gallery at Pump Project Art Complex.
3.) Demo your video game to the public and representatives from Electronic Arts at the Austin Community College Business Center.
4.) Build your fan base at a respected East Austin music venue.
5.) Step into the boardroom of established IT company, HBMG Inc.

- All venues will include a TECHNICAL DIRECTOR and the TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT you'll need to present your creations.

- Winners will be awarded $15,000 in CASH PRIZES!
