TOP TEN THINGS WE LEARNED LAST NIGHT

10) Micheal and Walt made it off the island
9) Micheal is supposed to kill people on the freighter.
8) The island is the best suicide prevention ever.
7) Mr. Friendly is very friendly to other misters.
6) Ben staged the fake 815 crash.
5) Widmore faked the 815 crash
4) Sayid really hates Micheal a lot.
3) Going to the Temple is not as easy it seems.
2) The Freighters are supposed to kill everyone.
1) There is not a bank on the island.

Micheal is in big trouble now. Alex is in big trouble now. Everyone is in big trouble now.

Sweeeeet...

* * *Spoilers below * * *

What an episode! I concur: it was tight, answers were given, nary a frustrating moment.

The 'previously on Lost' montage of Michael from the first 2 seasons gave me "sweet classic Lost" chills.

Three things come to mind:

1) Ben's line "The consider yourself one of the good guys" was cheesy as all hell. Also, I believe he knowingly sent them to their death.

2) I look forward to someday using the lines: "I'm not beating these men to scare you. I beat them to save your lives."

3) Notice when Michael calls Mr Friendly from the dock, Friendly is sitting with a gun in hand (and seems agitated). Anyone know the time line tie-in to this from Season 3? Or perhaps it will come up again later.

Yes, they will have to explain that eventually, because the time line with Mr. Friendly is very unclear right now. For example, did Mr. Friendly visit with Michael after Ben's surgery and before Mr. Friendly threw the football with Jack? Apparently island time is slower than outside time, and that makes the relative time of Mr. Friendly's New York trip even more difficult to ascertain.

I'm curious to know how "some" of Ben's people can leave the island. Is there a magic box, a portal, dietary restrictions...

Part of me thinks that there has been a civilization on the island (not unlike Atlantis in some ways, but totally not Atlantis) for a long time...drawn to the giant magnet or whatever energy and that the temple may be an actual temple from that time... but anyway, this is what happens on LOST all the time. Cool little bits of info or images that we often forget about until later... which I actually love... but c'mon... nobody has really talked about the big giant leg that I believe only has four toes...
Why "totally" not Atlantis? Do you know something about Atlantis that makes this island exempt from Atlantishood? I mean, it's a magical freakin' island. It seems to have a deep history. It's in the Atlantic Ocean. Couldn't we be talking Atlantis here? And would that really be so bad?

It might be bad for Asaf, who seems to want previous interviews he claims to have read to be true, that the island phenomena is based on reality, and could actually happen. But I'm not sure the producers ever said anything like that, and even if they did, I don't care, because Lost is essentially a science fiction fantasy mystery, and I'm all caught up in their weird, weird world.

It might also be bad for my Myths and Mysteries professor at my university, because he has this whole powerpoint schtick that debunks the gazongas out of Atlantis, and I totally buy into his well-evidenced debunking. But I'm totally cool with my favorite-ever serial TV show possibly revealing that we've been on Atlantis this whole time.

So, Chris Allen, what about you? Do you protest the possibility that the island is Atlantis?

Also, what the hell about that big giant foot statue? I still want more said. Part of me thinks that there has been a civilization on the island (not unlike Artlantis in some ways, but toally not Atlantis) for a long time...drawn to the giant magnet or whatever energy and that the temple may be an actual temple from that time. Of course, could just be a giant bunker made by Dharma to be the one safe place...but anyway, this is what happens on LOST all the time. Cool little bits of info or images that we often forget about until later...which I actually love...but c'mon...nobody has really talked about the big giant leg that I believe only has four toes...

Peter, love your recaps and pictures and blog posts.

Bryan, I so hope that you are correct.

1. Peter didn't make that picture recap, but I'm glad that he posted it, 'cause it's pretty funny.

2. ARE YOU KIDDING? I'm more certain than ever that Michael is not in that dang ol' coffin. The writer's won't be all: "Who's on the boat? And who's in the coffin? Oh, both are Michael."

Nope. You'll be taking me to Culver's, Chris.
