COFFEE!

Post by sara farr »

Hola, Improvisers-o-mine!

I would like your advice. I am out of coffee at home and would like to know...

If you were going to come over to my house and have some coffee, what what brand (and blend/flavor) of coffee beans would YOU want to have?

Coffee I've purchased in the past...
-Green Mountain
-Java Co
-Starbucks

I think Starbucks and all that is great (I actually worked there for awhile -- part-time benefits y'all!). I like strong coffee and they usually pack a punch, as do the ones you can scoop from Central Market / Whole Foods. Dunkin' Donuts coffee is pretty good, and has a great price too. But not quite a thick as the others.

HOWEVER, for the taste and the price, I'd go with Cafe Bustelo. This stuff comes pre-ground in a can and is delicioso, and is cheap! You can get it at Central Market / HEB or any of the others. It looks like this:

You can also get it in "brick" format. It also has a cousin, Pico, which is almost as good.

Give it a shot.

Anything but Starbucks. Because, you know, fuck those guys.

(Does this mean that you're inviting us all over for coffee and pie? Because if it does, I'm gonna start camping outside your front door, star wars nerd style. Starting... now.)

oh man, bob, my mom used to drink so much of that stuff when i was growing up. the picture of that can brings back superstrong memories of watching her make coffee in the mornings before school. they stopped selling cafe bustelo in upstate new york when i was in middle school and my mom had to switch to illy cafe. this is totally what i am going to send her for mother's day.
