Holy Moly, I can't stop listening to

Cat Power: Jukebox

Chan Marshall's covers of "Rambin' (Wo)man" and "New York, New York" are just stunning. Reworked deconstructed versions of classics made totally her own.

I just discovered last night that a new Saul Williams cd, Niggy Tardust, has been out for a couple months.

Also, the Mars Volta released a new album with a new drummer.

What? Dude, I told you about this the night it came out! Because it was a free download and it's produced by Trent Reznor and sounds like Nine Inch Nails if it NIN were rap.

Are these the kind of things you've been talking at me about? I certainly should certainly start listening . . . and maybe one day, remembering.

It does sound very NIN. I've only made it through once. No report yet.

Sometimes it's a form of love just to talk to somebody that you have nothing in common with and still be fascinated by their presence.

I just found out about Jeffrey Lewis. Anyone else know who he is? He's coming for SXSW

jeffrey lewis - the chelsea hotel oral sex song

When Nick Ramirez and I were riding to Austin Park and Pizza I let Nick pick the tunes and he put on Liberation Frequency by The Refused.

Anyone else like the refused?

Yeah, I randomly got a CD of his once, that includes that song. I actually really enjoy the CD whenever I find it. "The last time I did acid I went insane" stands out as well.

Apparently, Jeffrey Lewis is part of the anti-folk scene, whatever the crap that means... but so are The Moldy Peaches, so I guess that's good.

Also, his history of punk rock is pretty incredible.

I just watched that video earlier. I'm going to get more of his stuff. Do you know what the album you have is called?

my friends are in anti-folk band. it means music where the focus isn't necessarily on the musicality of the songs.

I think it means more than that... I think it's about not taking yourselves so seriously... Beck was considered anti-folk... labels like anti-folk get so convoluted, especially after they've been around for a long time... once Fugazi was an emo band.

Stephanie made me listen to Patrick Wolf... I had not before... I will more now.

That makes sense. My anti-folk friends the plastic assassins don't give a fux, and aren't good at their instruments, but they make good music.

...Fugazi was pretty emo. That mostly came from Guy being in Rites of Spring.

will you share the wolf with me?
