Holy crap.....I really hope those "troupes" weren't paid for that. And really, that was the best that they could find in NY and Chicago?????

i'm sure they were paid. i think its a case of a really bad marketing idea that somehow got through and now the improvisers are left hanging out there to die in tiny chunks that don't represent what they can really do.

i'm confused by the concept of the thing though. are they just improvising one long scene on a cell phone call for 2 days? it seems like there would be a better way to show you can talk for 24 hours without using any minutes and.. ah whatever. i'm annoyed by this feable attempt to use improv in marketing.

It seems like it is a series of scenes. In one of the clips, someone actually calls "scene". I am confused by the editing. The clips seemed to be shortened and there are a lot of jump cuts, but usually those edits are to help a clip make MORE sense. I can't tell what they are improvising about half the time. And it is really hard to watch one person sitting on a phone waiting for their turn to speak or trying to get a word in. And the music is very piano bar-y.

"Look look look look look look look! I'm singing! I'm dancing! I'm doing it all for you, New York!"

"I accidentally poked my eye with a spatula!"

"I want a shark."
"Daddy's going to get you a shark, even if he has to catch one himself!"
"Aaaah." "Eeew." "Eeewww." "Aaaah."
"I love it when you make that sound."

...

MY BRAIN!!! IT BURNS!!!

From this day forward, I will vow never to call myself a bad improviser ever again, and if I do a bad scene, I will remember these ads, because they are now permanently ingrained into my brain, and I can still see it when I close my eyes.

Somebody, pass me the eye bleach!

I also wonder if this will affect show sales. This gives improv a bad name.

WHHHOOOOAAAA!!!! Check out this here article.
TORONTO (Reuters) - Research In Motion's ubiquitous BlackBerry experienced a "critical severity outage" on Monday afternoon that left users stranded without wireless e-mail access, its maker said.

RIM notified its clients of the outage in an e-mail. Company officials were not available for comment.

"This is an emergency notification regarding the current BlackBerry Infrastructure outage," RIM support account manager Bryan Simpson said in the e-mail, which was sent to the company's large clients. The message said the outage affected business clients and "users of the Americas network."

The notice gave no estimate on the cause, when service might be restored or how many people could be affected.
Coincidence? I think not!

That's what you get for hiring "Because girl I love you girl because you are the best. Oh oh oh oooh!" to represent improv.

It wasn't an outage, the 'improvisors' were doing a silent scene.

Dear Second City,
This thread does not represent Austin. See you this summer, looking forward to playing with you.

Dear Second City,
Why are you reading the unimportant ramblings of a bunch of eager amateurs in a backwater like Austin? You're in Chicago for christ's sake - go do improv, get cool take out, ride the El, get mugged, make more money than we can ever dream of. Most of us are very nice and generous, so when you get to Austin, look us up and we'll take you out and show you around. If you ask nicely, and really want to know, we might even point out the people who've been rude on the forums - then we can talk badly about them for a minute before we do something more fun like drink or play.

Cheers,
Jessica

what the hell is everyone talking about?

looks like sc was hired to supply performers for blackberry's poorly executed idea that involved "improv." the focus is on promoting blackberry, not improv comedy.

so what's with all the hoopla?
