'Tis the season for announcements about summertime improv retreats and the like! Both these events take place in Woodstock, NY. The faculty for each of them is pretty amazing-- I can personally vouch for six or seven of them, as I'm sure some other AIC folks can too. Dig it.

ARTISTIC NEW DIRECTIONS 2008 SUMMER RETREATS !
14th Annual Summer Improv Retreat - July 13 through July 18:
In a protective environment participants will realize personal creative growth through improvisation, acting, voice, movement and scene construction. Participants will work daily in small group sessions with Gary Austin (founder of LA's The Groundlings), Jeffrey Sweet (playwright & author), Wenndy MacKenzie (LA vocal coach), Carol Fox Prescott (NY performance coach), Michael J. Gellman (senior faculty, The Second City), Larry Rosen and Noel Katz (Second City Training Center-NY), Kenny Raskin (physical comedian), and guest artists.
3rd Annual Performance Improv Retreat - August 17 through August 22:
Working in ensemble and with master improv faculty, participants will be immersed in daily sessions focusing on specific improv disciplines (e.g., transformations, character development, long & short forms). Master teachers include Gary Austin (founder, LA's The Groundlings), Michael J. Gellman (senior faculty, The Second City), David Razowsky (artistic director, Second City-LA), Ali Farahnakian (founder, The PIT), Hilary Chaplain (physical comedienne) and guest artists. Evenings, participants will present an improv performance employing skills learned that day.
