Ah, well -- kind of a moot point this time, because all the space in the Hideout was booked from 7pm-9pm. (Is there any way we can check on this ahead of time in the future?)

We (there were ~ 8 of us) wandered off to Little City for a couple hours, chatted and did a few simple exercises that can be done 'round a coffeehouse table, and then headed back to the Hideout for a mock show.

Lessee. We did:
  • Category die
  • Some scene starts
  • "I object!"
  • Pan Left Pan Right
  • Just Like Life
  • << other stuff I can't remember >>
  • Short scenes of bad, bad celebrity impresssions.
  • Freeze Tag
  • 185
  • Words of Wisdom
I think it went okay -- a little chaotic, but it looked like people were having fun.

Anyway, Roy, put me down for 'default', as in: if nobody else signs up to run the day's jam, or if those what sign up flake out, I'll have something ready for jam-running.

That sucks that all the space at the Hideout was booked. That shouldn't happen. And hardly ever does, I think. If it happens in the future, I expect Andy will let us know on the forums.

Sorry, guys. I knew the classroom and downstairs were booked, but who was in the upstairs theater tonight?

Flying theater Machine has been using the upstairs theater on Tuesdays for our rehearsals. I'm not sure what our status is at the moment - so if we need to adjust, just let me know.

It was FTM in the upstairs theater, but they were done at 9:00 so we still had the mock show. 7:00-9:00 was a great time down at Little City, running through a few warmup games that can be done around a table, like 'It's Tuesday', 'I'm Really Glad You Said That', and 'You're Only Saying That Because'.
Plus it was great to get to know some of the gang outside of the theater for a couple of hours. We had two brand-spanking newbies, Jeff and Kristin, they both said they would be back next week.
As with last week, Peter did a fantastic job leading the group and directing the Jam. Thanks for leading, Peter, it was a great time for all!

On a sad note, it was my last Jam for a while. I'm hitting the level three class at the Hideout starting next week, and other committments make it difficult to do both Monday and Tuesday. But fair warning - I'll be back ...

This past Tuesday's jam went pretty well. There were eight of us: a couple of newbies, a fellow who'd been away from the improv scene for a year or so, and a bunch of us Tuesday-night regulars.

We tried out some mirroring and imitation exercises in the warm-ups, as well as some variations of "It's Tuesday". The mock show went very well, especially given that the newbies departed beforehand (leaving six of us). But the mock show included a surprisingly coherent String of Pearls and (after that) a surprisingly coherent Relationship Freeze, so all in all I put it in the 'win' column.

Thanks to y'all who showed up for the Tuesday jam! Hooray for the world's shortest rendition of 3:10 to Yuma, and more Eskimo puns than you can shake a stick at.

I've got tickets for the Best of Fest show for Fronterafest this week, but I think I'll be at the Jam next week.

Thanks to everybody who showed up for yesterday's jam!

(And hooray for the endless chain of music-related 'chair' puns.)
