Need a Recommendation: A good Eye Doctor

Post by apiaryist »

Can anyone recommend a good eye doctor? I need to get checked out. I'm looking for someone Centrally located, but I'll drive just about anywhere.

haha... is this based on our conversation last night?
My eye doctor is good, but he got called back into active duty.

Most eyeball tests are pretty standard though, you could just do it at lenscrafters or whatever.

I really liked Stars in Your Eyes. It's just a couple blocks from the Hideout on Congress.

I've been to Stars in Your Eyes a a few times, and I've always found them mediocre to downrightburne bad. I usually make the trek up to Eye Physicians of Austin, up on Burnet. The one that I go to, Dr. Buckingham, is one of the best eye doctors I've seen in my life - and for a dude with coke bottles like mine, that's something - but they're all pretty good up there.

I'd never ever recommend someone go to LensCrafters or any of those mall stores. They're not in business to help you make good with the eyes - they're in business to sell expensive frames and overcharge you for lenses. Check out the whole $40 eyeglasses thing, if you're interested.

I go to the TSO optical at Capital Plaza. I've seen both doctors there. No complaints

James Dugas with eyecare. I've been going to him since I moved here. There's a place on the drag that has the best frames, though. I think that's where Gene got his sweet glasses.

I've been going to Stars in Your Eyes for while and like em a lot too. Maybe they had some staff switching or something.
