Need help covering 3fer slot tonight

Post by vine311 »

Skeeter & Sweaty will not be able to perform tonight. My dog Wikkit passed away this morning and I'm in no shape to perform tonight. If I could get a troupe to cover for me or possibly trade slots I would really appreciate it. If you can help me out, please post here or PM Roy or email him at roy at janik dot org.

Jason -- I'm so sorry to hear about Wikkit. He was such a sweet little guy.

This is the email I just sent out to friends that aren't on this board...

My dog Wikkit passed away this morning.

I took him home with me for Christmas and he got out of my parent’s house while I was away visiting other relatives. He disappeared somewhere around 5pm on Christmas day. I drove around in the dark for hours looking for him and calling his name but there was no sign of him. The next morning I drove around on a 4-wheeler searching everywhere I could think of but couldn’t find him. At about 1pm I got a call from one of my parent’s neighbors. They had found Wikkit shivering in the grass in their front yard. At first I thought he was just exhausted and traumatized from being out all night so I took him to the vet. There we discovered he had several puncture wounds on his hind quarters and was very badly bruised from his midsection to his hindquarters. The vet said that he had probably gotten into a fight with a much larger dog. They hooked him up to an IV since he was badly dehydrated and kept him overnight. The next afternoon I picked him up from the vet and they thought he was going to get better. He was able to hold his head up on his own and they sent me home with antibiotics and pain medication for him. He mostly slept for the entire ride home but was obviously in pain. When we got home I tried to make him as comfortable as possible and tried to get him to eat something. He wouldn’t eat any solid food so I gave him chicken broth through a syringe. He was drinking the broth so I was hopeful at first but he was having trouble keeping it down. As the night wore on I think his pain medication was wearing off because he was yelping and whining. I laid down next to him to try and comfort him and it seemed to work pretty well. I laid next to him all night and finally around 7am he was quiet. I thought it was because he was finally able to go to sleep. I now know that was when he passed away. I am very sad and will miss him a lot. I am glad that he is no longer in pain though. If you’re the praying type, please say a prayer for him. If not, please think a nice thought of him.

Thanks,
Jason

I loved being greeted by him whenever I came home. And I loved how his growl sounded almost human at times. I'll miss him. Very sorry this happened, bro.

Dave and Rachel are filling in for Skeeter and Sweaty. However, they're also hosting with The Frank Mills. They can probably handle it, but if you're around tonight and can lend a hand, it'd be much appreciated.

I can make it for the double barrel - I can run booth, ticket taking, etc, but no box. I'll see what's available when I get there :)
