Is this something that would benefit the AIC? Would we be interested in being a part of it?Hi Asaf -
I hope all is well! I wanted to check in to see how things are going on your end. Also, I have an idea for a great way to start building a relationship between ICN and The AIC community without making things too complicated. First off, to catch up on the latest with us, you can check out our corporate site at http://www.icn.tv/.
OK, here’s the idea… We’re launching a series of social networks, including several for comedy venues across the country. You can check out a few that recently launched at:

http://magnet.independentcomedy.tv/
Would The AIC be interested in having a similar site for your community? In short, it’s basically like your own mini-Myspace, where your performers and fans can create profiles, upload and share videos, build pages for your shows, write blogs, and start discussions. There would be no cost to you, it takes little to no resources to maintain, and we can get it up and going very quickly. From our perspective, it helps us raise awareness among the comedy talent community, and it’s a great way to take a step in the direction of building a relationship with The AIC.
Do you have any time to chat in more detail? Have a great day, and let me know your thoughts.
Best,
Marc

Hmm. My immediate feeling is that we wouldn't benefit from this. We have this forum for discussion, and I don't think we would benefit from having (yet another) MySpace/Facebook clone, particularly one that's a closed environment just for us. I always thought we used those social networks to try to promote events to people outside our community.
You work your life away and what do they give?
You're only killing yourself to live
My view is similar, but I thought I'd describe what I think the difference is between what we already use and this icn community thing-- Basically, with this network, curious imps and such around the country would get to look at pictures of AIC members and read various comments we are posting on our profiles.kbadr wrote:I don't think we would benefit from having (yet another) MySpace/Facebook clone, particularly one that's a closed environment just for us. And, as far as I can tell, that's about it. I recall reading on the forums here an interest in getting a comprehensive online bio-with-photo thing of all the AIC members. A link to the above proposed network on the AIC home page could potentially substitute for that-- just a way for people to check us out as individuals in the AIC.
It seems like there's a logical drawback to that, though, which is that some of us have-- and are continuing to make-- friends in other prov communities, such as iO and The Pit. So like, then there's some understood agreement that we don't accept them as friends on that network in particular, so as not to confuse people about who's in the AIC?
Anyway, I'm an undecided voter, but I just wanted to think out loud here for a minute.
