Before I ever saw the trailer, I saw the poster, and it was the poster that made me decide I won't like the movie. There's no way I'll like The Golden Compass.

Judging a movie by its poster. Tsk, tsk...
Sometimes it's a form of love just to talk to somebody that you have nothing in common with and still be fascinated by their presence.

I DIDN'T judge the movie. I judged my capacity to enjoy it. There's a difference!

You can't be the judge of your own capacity.

Dear Santa,

This year for christmas I've decided I want a war lord polar bear. I've been very good this year, and I've been reading up on how to care for one. He will fit fine in my studio apt as soon as I get rid of my bed.

Your Client,

Ann Wilson

Reviews, anyone?

Controversy aside, was it a good flick?

I thought it was good. Visually it was beautiful!!! The humor was subtle but not lost. It built antiscipation well. The story was easy to follow. The acting was pretty good except for one cheesy oscar nominated moment. Basically it was delicous and I loved it.

I'm no critic though. 8 out of 10.

If you like the book you will find the film watered down - but that's to be expected. I liked the way the film brought the story to life with the amazing visuals. I think it is totally worth the price of admission - and you have to see it on the big screen!

Roy and I saw it today. I thought it was great, the story flowed easily in an entertaining and engaging way (cause you know, sometimes fantasy films based on books can become cluttered and confusing), the music was great, and the CGI merged well with the actors and set. And the girl who played Lyra, the main actress, was swell. Unlike the Harry Potter actors in the first few HP films *shudder*.
