Looking for some Hosting help tonight at the Hideout
It seems that Junk is the host troupe for this evening, but we are in a bit of a pinch. Andy is out of town, Andrea is doing her xmas show, and I have child duty (as usual). Poor Troy will be tackling this all alone. Is there anyojne that can help out tonight???
Sorry for the late notice. We (as a troupe) didn't communicate this with each other very well. We will gladly purchase beer for anyone who helps out!!!
Again - apologies on behalf of Junk!
I'm reposting this here because time is short and our need is great. We will switch with you, or buy you beer or do whatever necessary to get some people out to host at the Hideout tonight.
Can you?

In the end, Amy McKenna, David Zimmerman and I took care of duties. And the performers from the first show hosted from within. As far as I know, I was the only one who showed up to help. Amy and David just happened to be there to see the show. I commend them for helping out.
And now, I have to go on a little bit of a rant.
I do not slight anyone for having communication problems or having stuff come up that keeps them from hosting.
BUT WE HAVE TO STOP USING THIS FORUM AS THE SOLE SOURCE OF PROBLEM SOLVING.
You can't post on the boards the same day and just leave it and expect it to be taken care of. That is unfair to the performers who are looking to be taken care of and should not have to worry about added duties.
BOTTOM LINE, if you cannot fulfill your duties, you need to start making calls directly to people to see who can cover until the spots are filled. Posting it and leaving it up in the air is, frankly, unprofessional and more importantly, falls short of solving the problem at hand.

$10 Bourbon was scheduled to host, as well. How strange.
I guess I'll start sending out reminder emails. Unless someone else wants to.

The combo team of smooshing The Starter Kit with Improv for Evil to make something like Evil Kitnevel was fun and had my favorite scene of the night with myself, Mike, and Bob. However, I'm curious what happened with Midnight Society. Why didn't they show up? Or why didn't they tell people they couldn't show up when they realized they couldn't? We did have an exceedingly small crowd tonight (cold and drizzling December weather seems to do that) so it didn't hurt too much, but I'm still curious.
I don't think 'reminder' e-mails are needed. We're all adults here, and it takes 10 seconds to write down the dates you're performing and hosting on a calendar or post-it. And it's not like this is a surprise; the darn schedule comes out well in advance for people to realize that there may be conflicts or such and get help. This isn't directed at any specific people but to us as a whole. We are mature folks who should be able to handle problems like this well in advance.Roy Janik wrote:$10 Bourbon was scheduled to host, as well. How strange.

Damn, this may have been partially my fault. I thought I had arranged a swap for Look Cookie and Midnight Society so that Look Cookie would perform on the 30th since Midnight Society filled in for them on the 9th.Justin Davis wrote:The combo team of smooshing The Starter Kit with Improv for Evil to make something like Evil Kitnevel was fun and had my favorite scene of the night with myself, Mike, and Bob. But I think there may have been some miscommunication. I personally forgot and listed Midnight Society on austinimprov.com.
Availability emails for January/February go out tomorrow. I'll make sure
that a reminder system is in place.

Thanks to Amy, David, and Asaf for covering for us. We owe you big time!!!Asaf wrote:In the end, Amy McKenna, David Zimmerman and I took care of duties. For the record, we had arranged with Roy to switch with Look Cookie. I don't want Midnight Society to receive an undeserved reputation for not showing up or doing our part. I would also like to add that 2 members of Midnight Society showed up and pulled a double shift as hosts and generally busted our asses at the hideout the last time we were scheduled. We're very interested in pulling our weight and doing our part for the community that we love.
Yeah, I think everybody knows there was just some miscommunication.

You're a badass, Jericho... no worries. We know it's not your fault.apiaryist wrote:For the record, we had arranged with Roy to switch with Look Cookie. Thank you very much to members of Starter Kit and Improv for Evil (Aden and Mike in particular), as well as David, Amy, and Asaf for helping out on Friday. You guys were great. Thanks to Knuckleball and Get Up as well for rolling with it and being understanding. I guess I'm echoing the thanks cuz I was there and gladly took the heat for Junk's scheduling snafu.
I'm not sure who the other hosting troupe was, but they weren't there either and I know that made it extra difficult to staff the shows without utilizing folks from the performing troupes. People seemed understanding, and after I had made sure all the hosting slots were covered, I bought some beers for their troubles. Hopefully they enjoyed them. There was lime.
All the members of Junk feel terrible for what can only be described as a completely cosmic meltdown of communication. We realize that it was unprofessional that we allowed it to happen, and will work diligently to make up for it in the future.
