I'm in it again this year and also have a new artist roommate who works in ceramics and is definitely worth checking out. We're #58 and #59 at 3204 Kay Street.
Saturday and Sunday 10am to 5pm! Here's the East Austin Studio Tour website. You can generally find maps at any given studio, but if you want the full booklet, you've got to buy one for $5 at one of the main locations. Believe me, it's worth it!
My pal Michael Schliefke drew up a nice Do's and Don'ts list for EAST, check it here. He also makes some nice recommendations on who to see. With at least 100+ studios and many more artists, it's good to go with a plan.

I forgot to mention this is quite possibly the coolest art event of the year... it's one of the first things I dragged my miserable self out to see following the hurricane two years ago and it helped get me super-excited to be in Austin.
Normally at galleries, art markets, museums, you see work put forward by artists, ie, their 'best foot'. The studio tour is a chance to see artists in their natural environment! It's a great opportunity to see the work that they don't post on their websites or show around... lots of great stuff collecting dust in the corner that you can buy off of them for a song.
The art scene here is terrific, this is an easy window in!
