Post by valetoile »

Congrats to everyone nominated and otherwise. Being in Philly this weekend just reinforced how special a thing we've got going on, which is to say nothing bad about the scene in Philly at all but to highlight how wonderfully anomalous our thing is. Let's hear it for Austin!

Nice job to everyone who got nominated, but...

... why wasn't I nominated for most improved?

I kind of expected to not get nominated for Most Underrated (despite how most of the improvisers listed are well-known), but doesn't anybody remember how much I sucked last year, or even a few months ago? Does that mean I still suck?

I'm sad that a lot of the folks I nominated didn't get nominated.

BUT congrats to all of those who got enough nominations to be officially nominated! Way to get known and rek'nized!

I liked the three-fold style of nominating. When looking over the ballot I thought, "OH YEAH! This person! How could I forget??" so many times.
The mind boggles and reels after awhile, so much stuff happens every week.

We need an awesome member page with a little headshot gif for every improviser, like a giant cast-list page on the AIC website. Wouldn't that be awesome?
Maybe I should set up a photo booth at the banquet this weekend...
I just feel like the size and scope of the AIC is so large now (but still small and manageable in ways), wouldn't it be grand to see all those faces side-by-side?

I was going to make a smartass remark by linking to this (which I guess I just did), but

I love this idea.

Congrats to everyone who got nominated and everyone who didn't, because aren't we all awesome? I will be sending people notices of nominatinos they recieved that didn't make it onto the ballot as well, so don't go feeling all sorry for yourselves just yet. And there is even more love to come!

This is a really good idea. I still don't know the names of some of my favorite Chicago improvisers because their teams' websites were either badly outdated or nonexistent.

Maybe the ideal solution would be a wiki so that everyone could be responsible for maintaining his or her own information, with fields for headshot, past and present team affiliations, and upcoming shows.

Oh, chill out, David. I didn't get nominated for that either, and I spent five weeks and a thousand bucks in Chicago trying to get better at this shit. Apparently you can't even buy a friggin' nomination.
