And I post these not because I disagree with Justin or don't think he should have the right to utter them. And again, these were examples in a discussion about improv philosophy and technique, but what's the diff? What all of my posts have been about is the sudden attention to the permanent and public nature of forum posts that someone outside of our community might use to interpret as our not being humble and hospitable, when we have a decent track record of doing this to other, not nearly as famous, troupes.

I do find it ironic that Justin didn't appreciate me digging up and finding old quotes of his when the public nature of his comments and their ability to be interpreted poorly was the gist of his post in the first place.

I've been a touring improvisor. It's really hard, but it's really not. It sucks so bad, but mostly it's totally awesome. We got some bad and some good response. I don't know what I'm trying to say... I guess I just think that anyone who is offended by stuff on the "internets" (which is different from the internet) should probably just learn to LOL it off. Crap, why did I write this? Somebody call me or something. No. Meet me for lunch. Everyone go have lunch together. At a non-hotspot.

Wow.

I haven't read this thread in a while.. and I went ahead and edited my post (though I kinda wish I haven't). But to be fair, I did have 2 disclaimers originally in that post "but you know, people have different tastes" and "just my 2 cents".

I know when I praise 3 For All, it's my personal opinion, and not shared by the entire AIC. I think it's unfair to burden all of us with that responsibility. Most of us on this forum are not Teachers of Improv, run an Improv theatre or Improv Stars. It's like me getting insulted by a random stranger not liking my painting, who doesn't teach, professionally paint, or run an art gallery. Art is subjective anyways. And so is Improv.

I don't like Star Wars 1. I don't think George Lucas is going to be upset I said that. I notice that a lot of upheavals in this group is always because of some theory style, teaching style, theatre style... who cares? You can love rap and I'll still respect you. You can hate classical music and I'll still be your friend. We need to be able to discuss things without turning it into a flame war. But it also scares me to think that we will turn into a slick, shiny, politically correct forum. That's not Austin.
