Tomorrow is Election Day. Horray! While it is a constitutional amendment election (code not a sexy election) please go vote anyway!
There is no excuse to say you are uninformed because my boss (Rep. Scott Hochberg) and his trusty staff (me) have put together a handy document explaining all of the proposed amendments and have listed arguements for and against each one. You can get the document at: www.scotthochberg.com
A shameless plug, I worked on prop 3 (appraisals) so please vote for it!
Info on where to vote is here:

Congrats Shawn on your proposition passing.
I was opposed to 12 (highway funding) and 16 (municipal water and sewage service to the exurbs)...but what can you do? At least they were close to being defeated.
Also - I love that fully a quarter of all voting Texans wanted to keep the pretty much non-existant office of inspector of hides and animals. Hi-larious.

...yeah. Hooray for higher taxes! Hooray for $1.6 billion extra dollars that you will pay to the Governor's banking friends over the next 10 years when you could have bought the whole thing immediately with money from the budget surplus! Hooray for hides and animals!Miggy wrote:So are voters....everything passed.improvstitute wrote:did 15 pass? I am lazy.

My feeling is that many people feared missing out on funding this at all if it didn't happen through taxes. There was no way for people to vote for paying cash from the budget surplus, thus no way to guarantee that any money would go toward cancer research. I am not suprised it passed. I am angry that it ever had to come down to this type of vote. Cancer affects so many of us either directly or indirectly - my wife's mother died of cancer, 3 of my 4 grandparents died of cancer, and on and on.apiaryist wrote:...yeah. Hooray for higher taxes! I am sure this was yet another case of you scratch my back and I will scratch yours. Let's see how much money the Texas Bankers Association (or some related group) contributes back to the politicians in campaign support.
BTW - I just watched Sicko last night. That might be coloring my opinions today.
