Taking these classes will help you construct a stronger kinesthetic range, the ability to ulilize your body more fully as you speak, craft greater ease with physical interactions, and utilize architecture and conceptual images as source material for scene or charater development.

Improvisational Movement Classes
November 4, 11, 18 & 25

These foundational classes are designed to welcome any level of movers or dancers. Beginning with a thorough warm-up we will wake up the sense, loosen up our bodies, engage in movement initiation and creative expression which will culminate in a solo dance exploration. Regarding composition we will focus on Space, Level, Time, Awareness and Interaction; in group and duet work. Contact Improvisation skills will be integrated as appropriate to the participants needs and wants.
Cost: $5-8 sliding scale to cover the space rental
Class minimum: 7, so bring a friend!

About the facilitator:
Jennifer Micallef studied modern dance, contact improvisation, and performance in Cleveland OH, Ann Arbor MI, Portland OR, and Austin TX. She has studied with Ray Chung, Andrew L'Harwood, Kirsty Simmons, Carolyn Stuart, Jennifer Keller, Colleen Clark, Ray Schwartz, Kevin McGee, Suzanne Willets-Brooks, Julian O'Brein-Pederson and many others. Over the last ten years she has focused her work on Contact Improvisation, Site Specific & Improvised Performance. Jennifer’s goal is to invigorate the improv movement scene in Austin by creating classes that are accessible and hosting jams that are fun! Jennifer is currently exploring long-form improvisational acting and taking classes at the Coldtowne Conservatory.
