Hahahaha. I wondered what John was doing talking so passionately about formats.

And spending most of his waking hours thinking about improv...

One of the things I found was that we all go through some periods where we experience doubt with our improv. But look at like this:

COURAGE = DOUBT + FEAR

Creating a format is something I never felt could be forced. When it was for us it just didn't improve because not everyone liked it. The form that we created with $10Bourbon was found accidently when we just had 3 of us and we knew we had to do something different. We just started playing around with different formats and then something clicked with the one we have now. Now we want to create something new and since we don't play in October we'll start experimenting with new formats.
Terrill...ific!

I have a friend who is a Marine and he loves this quote:

UPDATE!!!!

I did my first show at iO on Sunday. I wasn't in it very much and then I went out to do a scene. My "teammates" off stage started snapping so I launched into song. I feel good about my performance, but I wasn't on stage very much. I'm just glad I got the first one out of the way without any problems. I'm ready for round two. My team name is Nightwolf. I made us a flyer.

Badass flier. I wonder how Nightwolf would fare against Teen Wolf. Teen Wolf 2. Maybe in a decathalon a la Billy Madison, but with improv, basketball, boxing and 7 other things.

7 things? Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.....

We realized after we made the flyer that it should probably be spelled Knightwulf. Also, if you're in the know, you howl when Nightwolf takes the stage.

SHOW 2:
Went pretty well. Did the flowy/montage format. Did a lot of sweet editing. Did several 3 line gem scenes. One recall scene. One mad scientist scene. A guy told me afterwards that I stood out among my group. There's a lot of stuff like that said around the theater, but it still felt good. That's it.

SHOW 3: Well I gave a more lackluster performance than my first two shows. And guess who decided to drop in and watch the show. Charna. We pulled off the Three Joes format pretty well... but the small house was low evergy. Ah well. I did learn a lesson.

It's much easier to want something FROM your scene partner than to want to get AWAY FROM them. Learning by doing: it's the hard way, but it's the best way for me.

SHOW 4: I SUCK! I suck, I suck, I suck. I guess I wasn't horrible. I'll try to do better next week.

mmmmm hmmmps.

Call me Ted Theodore Logan bill because I was stoked that you and melissa came out to see the show with me. I felt a little awkward because I was the only one that knew everyone. The show had a lot of sweet moments, but I was a little let down. What did you think about that 3rd opening? I thought the first group felt too forced, and the second group I liked a lot. However, the reckoning must have had an off night.

Yeah, I'm not sure if that was an organic opening of part of the form, or what, but I really wanted stuff to tie back in together. The second scene was sooooo long, too. Why? Nobobdy knows what the hell we are talking about except for Eric.

SEE YOU TOMORROW VINES!!!
