been listening to Guy Forsyth's latest,
Unrepentant Schizophrenic Americana a lot lately. it's a two disc live album. good stuff. a handful of my favorites, and some interesting covers (especially on the second disc). he sings
Summertime while playing the saw and it's hauntingly beautiful, in great counterpoint to the majority of other tracks which are his usual blend of straight up blues and more folksy storytelling Americana (i hate using a word that's in the title to describe it, but there are few better words).
also, Jeff's turned me on to the Thermals. their new album,
The Body, The Blood, The Machine is really incredible and may, in fact, rock your damn face off. but no fear, as Nicolas Cage will be there to replace it with his own.

it's basically a concept album about a dystopic future where America has been taken over by an extremist theocracy...(looks around)...oh. Right.
