This Saturday is the second Saturday Morning Jam. This week's jam will take place from 8:00 to 11:00 at Pease Park.
(Yes, that's 8:00 to 11:00 A.M.)
This week's jam will meet near the practice basket at the Pease Park frisbee golf course. This is located near the Parking lot and Moody's mobile frisbee golf shop near the intersection of 24th and Parkway, just off Lamar Blvd. {Map}
(The basket location is marked on this map between the start of hole 1 and the end of hole 21.)
To celebrate this beautiful, wide-open space (and the recent passing of Marcel Marceau), this week we will focus on Mime and Spacework.
I'll try to bring donuts and other morning foods.
The point of these morning jams is to find new and creative ways to break your routine a little bit and to try the craft we all love at a different time on a different day in a different place. To be inspired by our environments and to explore how our minds work to perceive and create reality differently with different stimuli. We succeeded last week and I am really looking forward to this week's jam.
Outdoor Jams series continues Saturday (9/29/07)

Wes put, well. Wes put. I will most assuredly be there with some kind of eyes and some kind of a tail.Wesley wrote:The point of these morning jams is to find new and creative ways to break your routine a little bit and to try the craft we all love at a different time on a different day in a different place. Sorry, dude.
But part of the energy and excitement of the "breaking away from the theater" idea is to be inspired by and use our space differently.
Today's emphasis was spacework and one of the first exercises was to assume a character and play the first 4 or 5 holes of the frisbee golf course with all mime work and conviction. So, it involved wandering away from the spot early on and going where things took us after that.
I'm sorry we missed you and I'm sorry it sucked to get up and drive over there so early only to miss us, but it would have also sucked to confine the exercises for the rest of the jam just in case people were late.
Hopefully you'll give it another try. We probably won't wander so far from the starting point in the future (next time is overlooking the 360 bridge, so there aren't a whole lot of places to wander to), but it is a very space-inspired exercise.
Give it another try in two weeks (there isn't one on the 6th)! I'll post details next week.
