Big props to Amy as the hostess willing to trash her house the mostess. Also to the Improv community for downing 15 gallons of Margarita ( ! )
I really enjoyed there being at least one house party this year - it's more personal. In general, though, I noted a couple of things:
The house party took place after a late show that ended after you can legally buy beer for a BYOB party.
Also, the Saturday party competed with the pH pHrenzy show and hurt their attendance, I think.
Also - I missed the SVT party which may have been similar - but I really liked the contrasting formalness and dance-floor, etc... of the Doubletree the previous year. That was a real highlight for me in OoB '06.
Just my $0.02. And of course the party's are just in the service of the larger festival - which was wonderful again this year. Thank you Shannon and Jeremy and everyone else.

We lost the Doubletree as a sponsor this year. The arrangement we had with them for the party last year was that the space was technically free, but we had to leave a $150 cleaning deposit (not bad). There was a cash bar minimum intake in trade for the space, which we failed to meet because people were buying six-packs at the 7-11. So the fest had to make up that money. All told, OoB had to pay $600+ for that party, which then was complained about by a few concerned citizens.
Maybe in '08 we will have another hotel sponsor with function space?!?!?

The DoubleTree's no big loss, in my opinion. I'll take a place where I can talk and relax any day over a noisy and dark dance floor with overpriced drinks.
I thought the parties were great this year. I wish I could've stayed later at Amy's.

yeah, svt was a nice big party locale. coldtowne good for golf awards and chilling out a bit sunday night. personally, i hate bars. if i want to sit and drink beer while listening to music i might as well save hundreds of dollars and do it at home or someone's house, so i very much enjoyed the atmosphere at amy's. we'll probably abolish the saturday late night slot in favor of getting everyone on board with a huge party somewhere instead. we're also going to add a newbie spot at 4am on sunday morning for an out of town troupe that is new to festivals, just to teach them a lesson.
I shared this idea with a few people, but here it is again:
What if troupes had the option of donating some or all of the money they make from shows all year to an OoB party fund?
There would be no pressure or expectations, but I bet we could get enough from a little here and there to have full bars each party night and perhaps even more like renting a place out if need be.

Improv For Evil would be fully behind donating show proceeds towards renting a karaoke room. Or hiring a karaoke band. Or taking a karaoke tour across America.
