I saw Vonnegut himself in 2001 at my alma mater, standing on the steps of the library smoking a cigarette. I couldn't think of anything to say to him, so I just went in the library.
On a similar topic Mamet himself, as in "The Mamet" was at my work yesterday. I did not get to meet him, but if I did, I was going to ask him if he'd ever seen a "The Mamet" improvised. He might still be in Austin.
I personally would like to see "The Judy Blume" improvised.

I know that HE smokes Pall Malls, so maybe I'd have to do those the night of a Vonnegut. He was also in Abilene at the airport once (at least) and he wouldn't talk to the local media. If it had been me, I would have walked up, set down my camera and said, "They wanted me to come and try and get an interview with you, but I'd rather chat with you for three minutes about Sirens of Titan. Also, can I get a photo of you strangling me?"
You HAVE to get in touch with me if you know of Mamet's whereabouts again.
Why not do a Vonnegut and Judy Blume and then a hybrid?

Sometimes it's a form of love just to talk to somebody that you have nothing in common with and still be fascinated by their presence.

you can complain about hating cornell*.
*vonnegut went to cornell and hated it. hasn't been back to ithaca since graduating, at least that's the excuse given when students ask why he has never been commencement speaker.

C'mon people. I can understand if you went to business school and spent your time crunching numbers.
But didn't you have to take at least one general liberal arts class?
There isn't just Frank Lloyd Wright. There are other architects. Have you never seen
a Vonnegutian bath house? In Brussells? In the spring?

Vonnegut didn't write Catch-22, Joseph Heller did. But don't worry, I got Slaughterhouse Five and Catch-22 confused until I read them.
Can we do the Hemingway? I'd be into that.
Also, we should have an author dance party. "Do the Hemingway!"

If you like that idea, Hemingway or Will Smith, you'll like watching this:HerrHerr wrote:The Faulkner
Okay, maybe this already is a format of sorts, but here's a second possibility.
Do a show where the first half is a great novel.
The author travels to Hollywood to work in the pictures.
The second half of the show is either a bastardization of that novel
OR
the author's attempt to do his style within the Hollywood system.
Sweet Jesus, I am foaming at the mouth.
