In Case You Don't Know, oob info

Post by beardedlamb »

Out of Bounds is starting up this Tuesday, the 28th. Here's an in-depth rundown of the first couple days of shows.

TUESDAY, 8/29 - COLLEGE NIGHT
We've got five college groups from around and TX and one from OK, four of whom are going to battle it out in a short-form tournament style conpetition. Here's the bracket:

Also appearing for College Night will be Scatter! from Houston. They gowen do a Harold. We got a great submission from these guys so we're looking forward to some good longform mixed in with the short.

This show is FREE and first come, first sat.
On Campus in Calhoun 100 - map here - there will be signs

WEDNESDAY, 8/30 - OPENING NIGHT
In the downstairs theatre at 8pm, we've got faboo ColdTowne Conservatory upstarts Look Cookie and the leading name in veteran branded improv in The Leading Brands, along with the very exciting reunion of You Me & Greg, whose 6+ month absence from improv has been too long. This should be a great show with lots of varying approaches to improv including style, troupe size, and wide-eyedness.
In the upstairs theatre at 8pm, you'll see the crazy popular and experienced sketch duo of You're Fat featuring a freshly New Yorked Jill Morris and the always enjoyable Rachel Madorsky. Closing out the upstairs sketch block will be the wildly imaginative and delightfully absurd Hoover's Blanket starring Robin Goodfellow, a dog. TOO MUCH GIBB!

HOW COULD YOU AFFORD TO MISS THESE SHOWS?

And sealing the deal Wednesday night in the upstairs spaces will be the Opening Night Party featuring FREE Micro-Brewed beer straight from the Orf Brewery and the improvised rock and roll stylings of One Night Band.

WED-SAT night are all at The Hideout as well as Monday's show.

Grab your tickets here = oob tickets
Get the festival wide pass for $70 that gets you into everything.
OR if you're a performer in the festival, cash in your 2 comps and turn over a mere $30 to get yourself the all show access pass.

...and there's workshops, and parties, and golf, and drinking, and talking, and walking, and awh, it's just gonna be great.

Hey...not to sound like 'that guy'....but where are the parties this year? I know Amy is throwing one on Friday...but where are the other ones? I didn't see any more details on the OoB web-site and unless I missed it - I didn't see it on the forums either.

we're a bit behind on parties this time round. they're up in the show schedule online on the right column. wednesday is free party with free orf beer in the upstairs space while one night band improv rocks like as in an improv band.
thursday, we're going to find a bar and go to it.
friday is at casa amy as you mentioned.
saturday is at SVT.
sunday is yet undetermined.

there will be more info to these effects in your performer bag which you can pick up anytime in hte afternoon tomorrow once we get the badges sorted out and then on to the end of the festival.

College Night was a huge success. we had around 140 people turn out to the free show on campus. the groups were on with the shortform and scatter! was sweet with some longform. it was an experiment to see if oob should expand in that direction and i can say it was a lot of fun for the performers and audience, so i think we'll be making it even bigger next year. not sure how yet, but we'll address that later, won't we?

now on to the big hideout opener. nervous as me?

I was at the Hideout last night and just wanted to give some props to the people I saw working there:

Ace
Kacee
Andy C
Troy
Vines
Kareem
Asaf
Beard
The young lady that was so busy sewing curtains that I didn't want to interrupt her to ask her name.

I am sure there were many more throughout the day and night.

The theatres look great. I am sure they will loook even better once they are finished and cleaned up.

Kudos to everyone who has pitched in along the way.

Look Cookie, The Leading Brands, YMG, You're Fat, and Hoover's Blanket - may you have a warm hand on your opening.

Oh, no, I wasn't doing anything for OoB. Don't go giving me credit for anything good.

That was Courtney sewing up the curtains. She was in the latest Heroes graduating class.
