I'm in town Aug 6-12

Post by jesster »

Hey Austin folks!

Well, I am gonna miss out on OoB this year (booooo!) but will be in town for the National Poetry Slam Aug 6-12 (yaaaay!)

Any cool improv events going on? Maybe a Micetro I might be able to sneak into with a friend of mine from Denver? Maybe a bucket of beer?

Any recommendations on a cheapy cheap hotel in the Townlake area (where the hell that is)? I'm trying to track down a place for our team of 6.

Town Lake is a mile south (straight shot down Congress) of The Hideout.

i am directing micetro with shana that weekend and it looks like we have our first two players. remind me of this as we get closer. we love to have guests in micetro.

also, you should look into the extended stay hotel at 6th and guadalupe and the la quinta at i think 12th and san jacinto. they're not right on the lake but they might be affordable.

Thanks, Jeremy! Of course, with Denver being the returning national champs, my buddy might get busy that weekend, but we shall see!

Man... I wish I knew. Apparently, poets are really flakey and wait til the last minute to set schedules. Drives the type A in me bonkers, along with the frosty kid side!

I'm going to be gone to NOLA for most of that weekend - we will have to work hard to catch each other.

Do you want to work hard? How hard do you want to work?
Tell me how hard you want to work, Jesse. PM me.

are you competing with a team or an an individual?

wes and i already got tix for the individual finals, and it would be cool to see you there.

That's the dream. This is actually the last year they are doing indies.

I will be with a team. If (longshot) I score well in our two prelims, I have a chance at indies. That's a big "if". Our first bout is against some real heavy hitters.

Thanks to all who let me get some improv in so I could get a break from poetry. You all rock!

My knee still has not healed from the Coldtowne show, but I no longer have a limp ;)

I will miss OoB more than you know this year... You are all the shit.
