Wedding needs tech support at the Hideout

Post by acrouch »

Hey, I'm out of town this weekend, but we've got a wedding/reception at the Hideout on Sunday that needs some help with the downstairs tech set-up. Anyone who feels mildly comfortable (or would be willing to get mildly comfortable) with the downstairs lights, sound and projector want to make some cash helping play music and a video for a lovely young couple? Email or PM Andy

Your schedule would look like this:
5:00-5:10? Play belly dancer's music while she performs, turn off when she exits behind curtain

5:10ish Play first 30 seconds or so of Elvis' "Fever" from an Mp3 player while 2 groom's man & bride/groom enter from behind curtain.

5:20ish Play belly dancer's music while she performs again. Turn off music. (Is there a mike & would it be possible for him/her to announce that everyone that they can go in to the cafe a get food & drinks and that as soon as everyone has eaten to come back to the theater for the film? He/she is welcome to dinner & beer/wine too!)

6:30 Pull down projector screen for us, dim lights, put dvd on, etc. The film is 90 minutes.

8:00 Put music on from MP3 player for us. Shut everything down except music & lights in theater, have another drink!!!! then go home. How does that sound?? Did I miss anything that you can think of??
Probably pays $15 an hour, but you might be able to negotiate?
Who's up for some good wedding karma?

Yes! There might even be a threesome with the bride and groom if you play your cards right.

This was a success. However, there were some challenges in setting the place up. I had to grab two microphones from upstairs and set them up in the downstairs theater. One of them was easy since the cord was shorter and on the stage. The other was not so easy since the cord is about 100 feet long and it was run up through the rafters of the stage. Do we not have microphones that are meant only to be used in the downstairs theater? If not, don't we need that for times when the downstairs has been rented and the upstairs is in use? Also, I had to swipe some adapters from the upstairs soundboard to use downstairs. Currently we can have only one sound source at a time plugged in downstairs.

Also, I need keys to the office for the times that I'm covering the house manager position or working gigs like this one.

I'd like to make the sound booths my pet project this weekend during Hideout appreciation. Lamb, do you know if Ace is going to be around at all?

I'm also knowledgeable about sound equipment! I would like to aid vines in getting things in optimal working order.

...man, that's so going to be taken out of context.
