Hanging out with Andy at the Hideout last night, we both were wondering what regulations the city has for advertising infront of the Hideout. We then thought we should be able to paint something on the red brick wall above the display case outside, since it's not on the "face" of the building.
Maybe a huge yellow arrow with ridiculous font saying IMPROV COMEDY TONIGHT or EVERY WEEKEND or somthing. Maybe we could install a kitchen sink.
Do you guys have any thoughts?
Or do any of you older cats know what we can and can not do for display on Congress?

A boy can dream...
If only we had some sort of A-frame shaped advertising board that we could put out there on the sidewalk, especially on a weekend, say like this one with tens of thousands of extra people downtown, to show what was going on and where. Some sort of short-term solution that doesn't really need approval that could draw people in tonight and tomorrow. If only, huh?

I guess we could always ask the Mighty Jon Hunt if we wouldn't mind putting the A-frame out there; however, BEFORE we do that we need to create some sort of BIG POSTER to put on the A-Frame other than a lame 8.5x11 with ink on it. So...
If only we had an advertising committee to create a giant poster to fill in the a-frame to help advertise shows. One poster for Thursday, one for Friday & One for Saturday. Actually we would need 2 posters of each; one for each side. If only a committee existed. If only, huh?

The whole concept was that we paint INSIDE the foyer area. Technically, it's not on the face of the outside. It's only a paint job ABOVE the outside bulletin board. That's where I'm talking about. There's quit a bit of space up there too - a good 7 feet or so.kbadr wrote:I am speaking out of my ass here...
But I seem to remember hearing that all signage (on Congress? or all in general) needs to be approved. I'm sure this would fall under that category.

If only such a committee had people with such ideas actually attend meetings, got funding for them, and then had people help out with the follow through.

Actually, that's a zing on me, too. I've not been as rabidly pursuing ideas and people as much as I should. The next meeting is tentatively scheduled for the 21st. I'll make the offical announcement today with some ideas I want to discuss.
I'm just saying, this is a BIG weekend to raise awareness and draw people in. It would be a shame if we had nothing out there. Any creative types with a few free hours to make decent looking makeshift posters?

Not to poo-poo your idea, but considering I didn't even know that wall space existed, will advertising on it make much of a difference?Evilpandabear wrote:The whole concept was that we paint INSIDE the foyer area. I'll have to take a look tonight when I enter the Hideout.

A.) they're not going to say anything.
B.) they'll just tell you to paint over it.
C.) hanging a sink outside that high in the air is a bad idea.
D.) A-frame is golden. or maybe 25 A-frames making it difficult to walk by that say things like IMPROV or COMEDY or OREO SHAKE on them.
