Here's practically a complete copy and paste post from another message board I visit often (Comic Book Resources) where I quote two other people.
. . .
I have a similar reaction to this that I did to Saddam Hussein's death. The world is better off without him.

Same here. Ok, I'm sure he has family members and friends who love him and will miss him. I am not one of those.I'm never happy to hear when someone dies either.
Except this time.
Funny thing is, I had those exact two reactions. Actually, I felt a little ashamed when I saw the headline on CNN.com because my immediate, instinctive response was to smile and excitedly say, "Really?" with glee in my voice. My next thought was, "Oh, wow, I was way too glad to read that."With a little more class, I'd say: "The world's no better with or without him."
With a little more crass, I'd say: "Maybe we'll get lucky Pat Robertson'll follow his lead."

My hopes:
1. This story goes away quickly
2. He is not exalted in death
3. Those who do not like him and/or his "politics" take the high road and do not fan his fire
4. He discovers the errors of his ways in the afterlife and comes back to deliver his message in a way that reaches more of his followers than an image on a tortilla in rural Mexico
5. I become magic

Falwell founded the Moral Majority in 1979, an organization which crusaded against abortion, homosexuality, pornography and bans on school prayer. The group also mobilized conservative voters, and Falwell credited their efforts with the election of President Ronald Reagan, and a Republican controlled Senate in 1980.
Ding dong. Rot in the ground, you malignant fuck. After September 11, 2001, the minister publicly blamed feminists, gays, lesbians and liberals for the terrorist attacks.
