Looking for work

Post by Asaf »

Hey guys,

If anyone knows of any positions that have opened up in their work place. Particularly of a part-time or short-term nature, please let me know.

And this is kind of an immediate nature.

CPL Labs always has openings for data entry and the like. I think they do part time, and I know they have good benefits.

Would you like to drive some trucks for 8 dollars an hour? My girlfriend can give you that job. Or some other "non-officy" stuff. She works at a staffing agency. At Work Personnel. They always need people, but you have to be able to pass a drug test. Walk-ins welcome.
They call me Dollar Bill 'cause I always make sense.

AAAlllright. If you can't drive then the selection is pretty much limited to warehousy type things. You must pass a drug screen and a little quiz on simple measurements... i think. But if you pass then you start working sometimes same-day, sometimes next-day, generally really fast.

My friend works for Apple and their vibe is very accepting of non-office types. Way more creative-oriented than where I work. Anyway, for their operations in austin (mostly call center management and logistics) they hire through Volt temp agency and then badge you later on.

Not having a car may be an issue - it's located up on Parmer. Beyond that, my company has just recently lifted their hiring freeze (there's been a shallow industry-wide downtown in semiconductors recently). If you find something out on this web-site, let me know. No promises that it means anything to anyone, but I'll put in a good word for you with the hiring manager.

Again...car thingy may be an issue :?

I used to work right near that Apple campus (Riata Trace). There's bus coverage up there, but I dont know how easy it'd be to use.

Do applicants have to pay for the drug test they take?

Nope! Walk in and pee in a cup and if you're clean you WIN... a chance to maybe do some work. Also, don't be like the guy who tested negative for all drugs, yet highly positive for pregnancy.
