Improv Olympic's Jason Chin: 2 Workshops in April

Post by cargill »

Hi everyone -

Jason Chin (from Improv Olympic) will be in Austin for about a week and will be teaching 2 workshops April 1st and 2nd at the Hideout. If you are interested in taking either or both of these workshops, please email me at: jacargill@yahoo.com

April 1st Workshop (Hideout Classroom from 1 - 4pm)
THE HAROLD - the signature long-form improvisation piece created by Del Close. This is the long-form that all of Chicago learns and performs. Jason R. Chin
has been teaching the Harold for the past nine years and is the coach of ImprovOlympic's longest running Harold Team, Deep Schwa. Jason will show you the beauty and joy of performing this piece.

April 2nd Workshop (Hideout Classroom from 1 - 4pm)
HARDCORE SCENEWORK - this is it, folks. This class is not so students can be flattered or a teacher can be popular; this class is designed for those people
who wish to become better improvisational actors. The heart of all long-form improvisation is the two-person scene and Jason Chin will drill you and coach the
truth out of you so your scenes will gleam like jewels in the sun.

The Director:
JASON R. CHIN has been teaching and performing long-form improvisation for the past 11 eleven years. He was the Director of the Training Center and
Associate Artistic Director for the IO (formerly the ImprovOlympic Theater) for eight years and personally taught and coached over thousands of actors. He has created over 30 thirty scripted and improvised shows to both critical and popular acclaim. A student of the late, great Del Close, Jason has created the longest running independent improv show in Chicago, the satire Whirled News Tonight, and the perennial favorite, romantic comedy, Dinner for Six. His book, "Zen & The Art of Long-form Improvisation," should be in bookstores late 2006. He was also on The Cosby Show in the episode, "Theo & the Joint."
