Did this movie thing happen? Was it cool? Seems like such a fun idea...

Yeah!!! This is one of the best television shows in years.Justin Davis wrote:First season of Spaced (seven episodes long)
...which brings up a question I had. If individuals are hosting or curating a film on a given night, would it be cool to host or curate a tv show night? There are so many amazing tv shows that are overlooked or unknown because they are older (ie. Sgt. Bilko), from other countries (Spaced, The Day Today), or were just missed during their time (Freaks and Geeks). I'd love to do one for tv shows, if that's an option.
Absolutely. So many ideas; so few Sundays.mcnichol wrote:Yeah!!! This is one of the best television shows in years.Justin Davis wrote:First season of Spaced (seven episodes long)

Plus, the Bill Hicks night we discussed a long time ago, as well as something else... I think it was Buster Keaton and/or some other silent film guy. I believe Roy posted about it.

I'd have to bring my DVD player for that because we'd need a region-free DVD player to show it on. Being able to make my DVD player region-free was one of the main reasons I bought it (being able to show DIVX on it being another reason). The projector or whatever's used would also have to be NSTC/PAL compliant. My old TV wouldn't play Spaced, but I bought a new, spiffy, LCD HD one back in January that does.mcnichol wrote:Yeah!!! I've also got VCDs of both seasons of Spaced around here somewhere - those should play in pretty much any DVD player that doeesn't totally suck. I make them available for your awesome consumption.Justin Davis wrote: I'd have to bring my DVD player for that because we'd need a region-free DVD player to show it on.

Let's watch movies. When y'all watched Hollywoodland, did somebody film-student-introduce it? I can hardly imagine that they did. I mean, it's an Affleck movie. Anyway, for total fun's sake, it should be totally required that each film is introduced by somebody who can Turner Classic Movies it up for us before it starts.

This kind of got away from the original intent, in a sense.
The basic idea was "Hey, I'm gonna watch a movie. Anyone wanna come too?" Although I love to check out new/weird/obscure stuff, that's a different animal. This is really just for fun watching a classic, big budget Hollywood, new release, etc. Something fun where you don't have to think or even really open your mind too much.
The other stuff definitely has its place, but on a Sunday evenings, I prefer to watch Stripes or Sunset Blvd or something.
Along those lines, who's game for doing an intro for a movie this Sunday?

No need to feel badly... no reason either, as far as I'm concerned. Plus, you didn't comment on this... or did you? [accusation music]
