Thank you, Laff

I've been having a depressed sort of day, really didn't want to go to the hideout to do a show and smiling was really an effort.

I dragged myself to the hideout, was bewildered by the strong smell of perfume in the green room, and hot, fashionable women warming up and primping in front of the mirror. There were only 2 men, and they looked confused as well.

I reluctantly did a show, and was blown away by how much fun I had, and what a supportive group of people! I have done improv jams/shows with strangers and usually it's people trying to hog stage time and be as gaggy as possible. But the strangers I played with shared space, made sure everyone got to play.. and it was just fun. I had so much fun that I actually felt like being social again.

I know various people are disapproving about the segregated improv. But unless we get more perfume-filled greenroom days.. a tiny push here and there, and allowing someone like me to play with an all female cast (which I rarely do) is really nice, and it's a different experience.

Thank you for helping me smile. I really needed that today.

Thank you, Super Ovum, Soviet Bunnies, GGG, and all you ladies.

I would also like to thank LAFF.

I had a blast in the all-girl Maestro last night. It's been a while since I've had so much fun in that show. And how great it was to see a all those strong-smart-funny females in the cast, and to get to be on stage with them made me feel very priviliged and proud. And with 2 kickass women directing, it was a great show. The audience loved it and ATE IT UP!

Fav moments:
- Sea Turtle Song (I loved that the entire cast got to sing the chorus; strange how the 2 sololists, Kacey & Katrina, were in a standoff at the end of the show)
- Good Bad Ugly "Love Advice" with Mary Beth, Toni, Sarah, & Julia
- Getting to throw Kristin on the floor
- Kaci Beeler: Interpretive dancer; Ass whiping Grandma Emma; wheelchair-less, volvo-shopping Grandmother
- Shana walking on and stealing the "not funny" scene from Katrina & Kristin
- Kacey's solo "Bathroom, The Musical" scene
- Kacey's show winning "Oscar Moment" scene

Kudos to all involved. Whoop!!!

And I also want to say THANK YOU to the guys who supported the festival. It was apparent to me that the help of those men involved made this festival a success.

I had an a-maze-ing time this weekend at Laff. I am so appreciative that we got this chance to celebrate women in such a wonderful environment. Here are my personal top 10 of what I loved about this festival and why I'm already on board for next year.

10. An awesome after party with the Platforms.
9. Having my friends call because they heard about me being in LaFF on the radio.
8. Meeting really cool people who are doing cool things outside of improv.
7. Seeing the different ways girls play guys.
6. Finding out about 2 new markets that I never even though of!
5. Feeling the love of the guys in the improv community - I was going to list you all but there were too many - that is so awesome.
4. Getting to hang out with Julie, Andrea, Mo, Shana, and Kacey S. all weekend. These women are so wonderful.
3. Getting so full that we had to move both 10 o'clock shows down stairs.
2. Sharing make-up with Kacey S. (I was actually hotter.)
1. Riffing on leaking breasts with a nursing mom backstage.

And truly, that was my only and one secret goal.

I had an awesome time at LAFF.

One of my favorite things was seeing so many talented people from out of town or outside of the regular AIC gang rock the stage. There were some seriously funny performances going down. And funny in so many different ways. I was really happy to see such diversity of performers in the Maestro: different ethnicities, religions, ages, orientations, shapes, and sizes. Yay!

And all these amazing performers were talking to me about how impressed they were with our scene and our community here in Austin.

It made me really proud to be an improviser, and proud to be part of the Austin Improv community, and proud to be a GGG.

A super mega thanks to everyone who came out and supported the festival.

Yes. Especially the flag waving ending of "Monster Truck Rally: The Musical!"
