The GamesShow
Hello Austin Improvizers,
I have been kicking around an idea for an improv gameshow for a long time now and have finally come up with a format that I feel will be a lot of fun and would like to inlist your help with casting it. A sudden slot opening has made this show slated for April 6th. That is just 2 weeks away. this is not a difficult format but there are some mechanics that would need to be worked out in a rehearsal session (time and place TBD).
Please take a look at the format and either reply or PM me if you are interested. I am looking for experienced improvisors who enjoy playing games and are willing to take a risk with this show.
Thanks,
Dav
Running Time: 90 min - 1 hr 45 min.
Cast:
Six players
One Host
One Announcer
Props:
Two to three containers (buckets)
Game tiles
Index cards (to be used by Host)
Show music (high energy for intro plus any additional tracks for music related games)
Opening:
Announcer plays high energy opening music and calls in the players one at a time. The announcers gives a short prewritten bio of each player which includes troupe affiliation, time doing improve and one extra item provided by the player.
Music changes and the announcer brings in the Host of the show.
The Host welcomes the audience, goes over a few rules of the show and has the audience do a brief warm up.
Rules:
Team Building Round (5 points)
The onset of the show has six individual players. The Host will arbitrarily split them into 2 groups of three. They will play a head-to-head elimination style game to determine who the Contestants will be for the show. The last two remaining in the first game are the Contestants with the winner of that game having the first choice in the next round.
The staging is set up for game show mode. The Contestants take their positions in the contestant area and the remaining players are set aside into a “bull pinâ€

Tech is provided by the house/host troupe, which this week is Girls Girls Girls.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to play in the Games Show this week. Kaci and I are doing Perfect Season in the 3-fer, and I need to focus all my nervous energy on that.

Well, It looks like we are down two players. Wes and Roy can't make it. No biggie. They aren't that funny anyways =P
So that leaves 2 spots available. Remeber, experienced improvisors only (and I know who you are).
We are only going to do an exibition of the actual show format so I might be able to pull it off with just the 5 of us but there is still time.
I would like to meet up at the Hideout around 7pm the night of to work out the game plan and stuff.
