Laptop Help

Post by yodApollo »

My girlfriend Kyla, who lives in Austin, is having a problem with her laptop. The screen is flickering and the signal is breaking up a lot. I think the cable might be loose, but given my distance of 1000+ miles, i am unable to fix this problem myself.

Is there anyone on the boards who might be willing to take a look at her laptop and possibly resolve the issue? Thank you to anyone in advance.

What kind of notebook does she have? I know a thing or two about computer repair. I am currently diagnosing a no POST problem with a notebook that I recently swappaed out system boards on.

The laptop is an HP dv5000, just over a year old. I'm pretty sure that the connection cable to the screen has just come loose.

Well I have a few ideas but would need more info on the problem. Does the flickering occur when she moves the LCD? Can she reproduce the problem? Generally the video connetor is located near the top right or left of the keyboard (underneath). If she presses in those general areas, does that exasperate the issue?

Would also want to test to see if it is a software problem by trying to recreate the issue outside of the OS (in BIOS). Naturally you need to verify she has the latest drivers and such.

PM me and we can take this conversation offline.
