Hey! In tandem with this, I've been working on a list of things y'all can do in solidarity with being non-Hispanic the next time LCP has a show:
1) Reinact the Battle of the Alamo
2) Go down to Nuevo Laredo and get a hooker
3) Forget to tip at the car wash
4) Throw rocks at the paleta bike guy
Don't you just want to get down with your white self whenever all those minorities who have traditionally gotten an unfair shake in the comedy world take the stage and totally kick your gringo ass to the curb???

You forgot "driving to Home Depot and making the day laborers play Stringing the Pearls for minimum wage".Mo Daviau wrote:Hey! In tandem with this, I've been working on a list of things y'all can do in solidarity with being non-Hispanic the next time LCP has a show:

i'm not as clever as mo, who definitely made the following point in a more elegant fashion but i want to go on record with saying that i find this thread and the sentiment behind it insulting, demeaning, and very disappointing. my general measurement for whether something is sexist is whether the same comments would have been applied to a non-gendered but similar event. for example, several troupes in town were not accepted to perform in out of bounds. however, i think we can all agree it would have been AIC-death to the person who would have posted "Seems like there is going to be an influx of mini-golfers/improvisers in town and i'm not the principal focus. let's go do (insert stereotypical activity) and then (disruptive activity) during the shows and spread (general bile and malice) towards the organizers, the participants and the event itself."
so thanks to every one who posted in this thread for "yes, and"ing the women of GGG and the AIC.
in a more constructive vein, if anyone wants to be a part of this festival, we are in great need of volunteers to do normal show-type volunteering (especially on saturday night). pm me if you are interested. we would greatly appreciate anyone's help.

Jesus jumped up Christ, for Ladies who Are Funny, you people sure seem to have lost your sense of humor.
No ability to detect tongue in cheek anymore? Fucking hell.
It's a goddamn joke. And the bit about going to the festival to "view women" was written in the absurd (and stereotypical) spirit of the rest of the post to indicate that we weren't going to intentionally avoid the festival to do this man shit and, in fact, we are going to support you.
God dammit.

You work your life away and what do they give?
You're only killing yourself to live
so if someone makes a joke i find offensive, i'm supposed to laugh it off?
to be perfectly honest, i couldn't detect tongue in cheekiness in all of the posts. some certainly. but the very fact this thread got started and continued hurt my feelings. i've seen many people on this board stand up for themselves when they feel like something they believe in and have worked hard for isn't being taken seriously. yet this is the first time i've seen someone get called out for not having a sense of humor.

I'm sorry you are offended. I don't think anyone meant this as anything more than "look, the ladies are being classy and doing what they do best! Let's be our retarded selves and do what everyone thinks men do best."
I'm an asshole.
