Tuesday Night Jam - 02/20/07

Post by Wesley »

Second-to-last Tuesday Night Jam for February!
Hurry up before the calendar rolls over to March and nothing changes!

This week we will work on:
--Creative/beneficial suggestion taking (finding ways to be personally inspired as an improviser)
--Fun with unusual relationships
--Succeeding at Maestro's most-hated games
--Bending the Space
--remining playful

Same time: 7 to 10
Same place: Hideout Theater
Same price: Free!

Great for newer players and troupes (*cough*) and for players wanting to get more play out of Maestro. Always fun, always helpful.

Who's in?
"I do."

Where there's Jam, there's a Spaz to follow!

I'll be there like a wannabe rapper at a Scarface convention.

A global thing moving forward:

If you are directing Maestro one weekend and you already know that you really want to play games X, Y, and Z...if you tell me before the jam I will try to workshop them with the jammers, some of whom will hopefully be playing Maestro that weekend.

Also, if you are playing Maestro in the upcoming week, the jam in general is good practice for you, and even better if we do play games that will be played in the show.

We often call this "a Maestro incubator," but we don't know what will be played so we just play random games. This might be a way to make the show tighter on any given week. Particularly if you know you want to play a game that is new or rare in Austin, that people don't like or get, or that is rarely played to its maximum effectiveness on stage (i.e. Clump Comically/Yes And Adventure or Speak In One Voice).

So, yeah, there's that.

I may drop by to help out if I have time.

If not, may I suggest emphasis on playing and hightening the game. Too often in Maestro we don't hit the game hard and heighten it the way it needs to be.

I may come by for the first 45 minutes. I have something at 8pm, so I'm not totally sure on that. If I don't make it, I'll be there in spirit.

Ditto - my animators are ripping through "lift/push/pull" right now, but I can't leave yet.
