Famous Austinites?

Post by Asaf »

I was looking at the Kansas City Festival website and they have Jason Sudekis coming down. He is apparently from that area and that is a big part of why he is doing the festival.

I know that Alan Tudyk (Firefly, A Knight's Tale, etc.) if from the area and used to improvise here. Would it be a good idea to send out an invite to him to see if he would be interested in participating in the festival (I know that former Austin Comedysportz person Tyler Bryce is good friends with him).

Are there any other famous Austinites that might be interested in helping the improv arts community?

Christ - getting a Firefly cast member (back) here for any reason would probably be the cause of much show attendance and subsequent changing of undergarments.

Nathan Fillion used to do improv with my old New Jersey Troupe, ImprovJam; in fact, he performed with them once (and I missed the show, dammit)

I have a friend who worked with Fillion in improv in the midwest. Imagine if we had two Firefly cast members headlining an improv set? Madness!

You call your guys who know Tudyk. I'll call my guys who know Fillion.

Nathan Fillion from One Life to Live in the late 1990s? He played one of the Buchanan sons, as I recall.

My brother went to school with Joss Whedon, but I'm saving this connection for something really important.

I don't think that any of the ladies have any improv background. Remember this started with tapping people who have a connection to Austin (Tudyk) and/or a connection to improv (Fillion). We could reach out to dozens of people that are just celebrities. Watch that we do not get sidetracked on that.

Your brother went to Wesleyan?? I went there for a semester. It's where I met the legendary Dyna Moe.

(I feel like I should mention that I know Alan from Dallas. Although he enjoys Austin, he never lived there. In Dallas, he was a part of Rubber Chicken WAY back in the day.)

Okay I must be friends with you. Joss Whedon is my god. The man is pure genius.

Oh and also, I have a friend who's great friends with Alan. They talk to each other often - grew up together. So I know that I too could pass on a request to him.
