tally me banana

Post by Roy Janik »

Since PGraph just passed our 50th show milestone, it got me thinking about how many improv shows I've done personally.

I have no idea. But I can guess. I'm gonna take a wild stab in the dark and say 200. I'm sure Wes can give me a more reasonable number.

But, how many shows do you reckon that YOU'VE done?

i just did a lil back of the envelope on this, and would estimate i am currently between 1000-1200 shows.

for my last 3 years in chicago, i was doing an average of 4 shows/week, before that 2-2.5. here, i perform 1.5 a week, i would guess. in all, that comes in around 1050, but doesnt count remotes and buyouts i did at CSz, nor does it include festival performances or sketch shows.

thats weird to think about.

four years of doing improv have caught up to the six years I spent doing theater, so I very well might be looking at a 600/600 split

Huh....scripted shows/dance etc probably around the 800 range but improv is less due to not starting until 3 years ago. I'd put that in the 75 range.

I'm not entirely sure how accurate this is but I think I'm approaching or just over my 100 show mark. I wish I had kept better track of them, it would be nice to know how many I've done.

I've done improv for 16 years. I can't even imagine how many shows I have done.

I collect information on people and observe everything.
So, I could give you the exact count, Roy, but where's the mystery in that?

Well, I don't like to count the bad shows I've had. So I've done about 8 or 9 shows. So close to double digits, baby!

Actually, I've tried to estimate, but there's been no sort of regularity in my schedule. So... OH!!!! And then there was the big 27 hour show, which is equivalent to like 25 full length shows, or like 50 Double Barrels, or like 80 Threefers. F-U Guinness!

Quality not quantity, folks.

I've done about 3,456 shows...

...if you count my one-man, one-audience shows in the kitechen, bathroom, car, etc...

I did so much acting as a child and teen that I can't remember much of what I did, much less how many shows, plus, did that walk on in "The Lark" count? Etc. But I have done well over 1000 (paying) clown shows. In Improv I think I've done about 100. Maybe less. I've ony done about 4-5 films and that counts student filming. I've directed about 25 shows, but most of these were for kids in drama classes. I don't really feel alive unless I am performing about once a week. I get all edgy other wise.

over ten years of improv i would have to guess an average of 2 shows per week. add to that about 40 scripted shows and i get the grand, inscrutable total of 1080. 3 full rotations.
it would be much higher but my average dipped a little in chicago.

Oddly enough, I've only done one show. There have, however, been thousands of intermissions.

That can't be right.
