50 shows

Post by Roy Janik »

During the 1930s/Apocalypse/Spices show tonight, Wes surprised us (PGraph) and the audience by revealing that PGraph had reached the 50 show landmark. He then played a video commemorating this, starring a lot of the improv community.

Here's the video:

How sweet is that?

You are all awesome.

I'm sure that I speak for IfE when I wish you congratulations and good luck and great fun reaching your next arbitrary landmark!

PS: You guys really cracked me up tonight with a combination of weirdness and total commitment. "Wait ... we have a wad of cash and a gun. My buddy's skipping town - we have everything we need!..." There's a time for following the arc and a time for realizing that you personally have everything you want and it's a joy to watch you suffer trying to rationalize the two.

PPS: Hats off to Cookies Malone!

Save for some technical difficulties, I think it went off well. Of course, today was a day for that. I had to give a short presentation in front of my entire company and when I stepped up to the podium, I promptly and accidentally disabled PowerPoint.

Awesome show last night guys. Tons of really funny moments and a great new format. I love it that Kaci worked in a whorehouse instead of that awful Sausage packing plant. It took the audience a few beats to get that one. Congrats on making it to your 50th!

I was so wrapped up in the show...that I just got that myself.

p-graph's team AIC trading card just went up in value...

I'll trade someone my autographed Chris Allen rookie card for two PGraph 50th Anniversary cards.

Congrats on reaching your 50th! Last night's show was fantastic. I loved the fact that most of you were having such a good time you had to actually turn your backs to hide the fact you were laughing so much on stage.

And Roy, your monologue at the end touched me. I'll use your speech to guide my life from now on.

Hey, me too! I'm glad I'm not any slower than two members, no pun intended, of Pgraph.

That show was a blast, and I'm happy I was there for it. Whatever was lost in precision or technical elegance was regained a thousand times over by the amount of sheer joy visible onstage. Seeing you guys always makes me want to do improv.

Congratulations, and I mean that more sincerely than I sound on the video.

I think Val tossed out the sausage plant reference right on the heels of the World's Fair reference, so it kindof got lost, but it was one of those high-brow, intellectual jokes that I love. I wanted to just walk out on stage and hug her for it.

Yeah, we kept loosing it in the wings, always the hallmark of a good time if the cast can't even keep it together.

Here's to 350 million more...

Losing it in the wings? You guys were on the verge several times of losing it onstage. That was hecka nice. What a great show for your 50th. You guys get stronger every time I see you--I can't wait to see what your future holds.

I wish I could control that better. I'm usually pretty good about it, but sometimes I can't help it.

Thanks, Shannon, and everyone else. It means a lot to us to get such great support from the community. I can't tell you how much I love being able to pick out a fellow-improviser's laugh when I'm on stage. I always feel like if we can get you guys to laugh, we're really doing something right.
