i have a few trailers to show before the shows tonight (girls, coldtowne, cage match), and the projector will be there. but i think there needs to be an sv (or something that sounds like this) cable to connect the computer to the projector. does anyone have one of these lying around? if so, i will be at the hideout at 7 to try and get this set up.
thanks to you.

i think bob m. and jon hunt chatted about this, and jon was planning to bring the correct cable up to the theatre sometime in the past weeks.
bob and i will also be there at 7 to run tech with phil, so iffin its there, we can help ya hook it up then.

I wrote Andrea about this separately, but the cable that Jon was bringing over was to connect the monitor to the pc. There's another cord up there (or should be / was a week or two ago) that will connect the pc to the projector. Eventually, once we get it mounted and correctly cabled, the pc will be connected to both the monitor and the projector at the same time. due to the lengths of the cords we have currently, I'm not sure this will be the case. I'll know more once i get my butt to the Hideout tonight.
You can also use an S-Video cable to connect ColdTowne's Mac to the projector, but i'm not positive there's an S-Video output on the PC. Ideally, we'll have a bunch of ways to connect things. So, we'll have the permanent connection between the house PC and the Projector, but allow for someone to bring in a laptop and just plug in an existing cord to connect.
I apologize to peeps for getting this straight sooner. Unexpected work and extracurricular stuff have kept me away from spending the time i need to mount and cable it correctly. Soon, though...

The PC does NOT have an S-Video Cable port; however, the PC does have component cable ports. I'm fairly sure the projector will definately utilize component cables, with the possible S-Video port.
So, what you will most likely need is an S-Video -> Component Cable link, which I have! I will be sure to bring it with me to the Hideout. They are really cheap and can be purchased for about $5 at Altex. (North on I-35 passed 183) Be sure to bring some component & S-Video cables also just to be sure. (I'll bring mine too)
I also created a new folder upstairs called "Hideout Videos," that has alot of misc video shorts to show the audience while they're waiting. You will more than likely need to use the VLC player, and slide it off screen to the right. Be sure to activate the 2nd screen through Properties & Turn off the Screen Saver first though. (Just right click on the desktop.)
Don't worry. I'll be there.

on the mad dash to get the projector working i did not notice the s-video port on the back of the pc box, so i felt like an idiot. however, i did get the projector to run very smoothly off my laptop. i do want to propose that we install XP on the PC upstairs, and sweep the pc clean. The 2000M OS on the PC doesnt offer a side dual screen like XP does (or at least i wasnt sure how to go about it) so bob and i deduced that you would have to treat the projector like a monitor with a 16PRONG cable; however the PC uses an 8PRONG cable so that sucks balls. There's an adapter I'm sure, but that would be a pain in thes ass to rewire each time.
SO, i wanted to open up the box to make sure the component cables up front are connected to the mother board. if they worked it would make things a lot easier than an s-video port in the back. Also by install XP on the PC upstairs and cleaning all the shit off the PC, it will make everything sooo much easier. I would push to have the desktop be extremely simple with little to no icons. Beside the essentials that you cant get rid of (my computer, recylcing bin, etc.) The only folders i would really want would be:
1) mp3s
2) videos
3) installs
4) players
i would mostly install a shit load of players and codecs to guarantee that the PC would be able to play all formats. i also have a copy of IMTOO converter which can convert anyting into anything in a resonable amount of time. i would personally prefer if we did all the video off the PC in a single format. i would prefer DivX. good quality, but small file size. i used VLC player last night as it play virtually every format AND i can control the playlist with out having to deal with the video display screen, unlike windows media player classic. however the second run i used WMPC by putting everything into one play list. i simply had to put the cursor on the bottom of the dual screen for the controls to pop up and i could forward to the next video easily.
i do want to mention that in order to get as many video shorts as possible in the brief amount of time we have inbetween shows (because it's really only about 10-15 minutes) we should try to make all our trailers/teasers for all troupes be around the 1 minute range or at least under 90 seconds. this way we could get as many trailers in as possible. we're only going to get busier with more & more troupes who will each like to have their own trailer on display. so a time cap or time suggestion now would be the best way to get that ball started.
i will NOT be at the hideout tonight, so if anyone wants to get that projector running for tonight i highly recomend that you get their early. also, i forgot to replug the pc back into to everything. my bad. i guess after only owning a laptop for less than a year i have already begun to despise the clunkyness or grotesque size of desk tops. i should have recconected the cables. but now i must leave town asap to catch my show downtown... in houston. See you guys tonight at the party!! (yeah i know, i suck)
