RIP Molly Ivins

Well this makes me sad. She's a Texas lady I loved.

Rest easy, Molly.

I worked briefly as a research assistant on the book that she was writing with Lou Dubose when she died. One of the chapters was on the incompetence of the FBI. Molly said that the three things that were consistently overrated in life were young pussy, Mack trucks, and the FBI.

I hope I haven't offended anyone with this, but that's how I want to remember her: completely uninterested in propriety and funny as hell.

We really need someone like her more than ever, and unfortunately we're not getting another one. Adios, Molly.

I burst into tears when I heard this on the radio in my car tonight. She was a Smithie, so she had a special place in my heart.
