Proposal for Threefer Management

I'd like to run the Threefer for the next 6 months, taking care of scheduling, staffing, marketing and promotion. I have some ideas on how to rejuvenate participation and attendance of the Threefer and I'm willing to commit to managing the show for six months.

I understand that the AIC is still mulling over the Artistic Director position and I don't want to muddle that issue. I'd expect to work with an AD and the AIC for coordinating a budget, ad buys, promotions, and overall goals. Until an AD is selected, however, I'd like to start working on the show as soon as possible.

I have the backing of my troupe (IfE) so while I'm directly responsible & accountable for the show, I won't be doing this alone. I produced Micetro for 9 months back in the Dark Days of 2003 so I have experience organizing and managing shows.

Deliverables will include monthly status reports to the AIC, a marketing plan and budget, transition documents (marketing, staffing, and other resources) and a post-mortem review at the end of the six months. In exchange, I'll need AIC support, primarily a small ad budget (TBD) and coordination with other promotional efforts.

My goals for the show are to showcase for newer troupes, provide technical, promotional, and limited artistic mentoring to troupes, and to put butts in seats.

I support Bob because:
- Central ownership means central responsibility
- We can blame Bob when something goes wrong
- Bob has a lot of ideas and is apparently not burned out.
- Hey, what's the worse that can happen??

you say you want to be in charge of scheduling . . . do you mean the actual troupes in the show? do you want to take that responsibility away from the scheduling chair (or AD if we have the position)?

Yes; I want to schedule the tech staff and troupes that perform in the Threefer. I expect to work with our AD when we get one, though my current plan is to focus solely on the Threefer.

People have suggested that runs of troupes (4 weeks) would be more marketable than the current scheduling, though changing that depends on troupe availability.

If we're going to start decentralizing AIC show scheduling, we should have a serious conversation about it.

Sure - my goal is to make sure that the Threefer has an owner so it gets some TLC and attention. I do not want to be Scheduling Czar, but I also don't want to see the slot languish because the AIC hasn't sorted out the new scheduler, the AD position, etc. Besides, it's likely (i.e. what I'd do) that the AD or Scheduling Czar would delegate a manageable subset of tasks to someone else. Consider my proposal 'predelegation'...
