Sorry, excuse me, let me correct myself.
FUCK LOS ANGELES
I was born there, most of my family lives there, and true, the weather is great, but it's still NOTHING like it's made out to be. The attitude, the people, the general mindset.
That's my honest opinion and I'm going to speak it.
Lord knows I actually did live there, besides the countless number of visits.
Why do you care so much about what I have to say in a small side note? Stop protecting people.

as bob mentioned, i am real excited about this.
congrats to austin for a serious win on the artist acquisition/retention front.
the state inspection place i go on burnet (run by 'terry' - a dude who is an avid outdoorsman and raises blue heelers) has a motto...
"Who cares how they do it in California?"
indeed.

I think you got it backwards, Val.
Austin is already the place to become awesome and Mr. J. Lamb, esq. has simply realized this inescapable fact.
We're a rising star babe, a boom town, an no self-respectin' improv artist would dare move to stinky, smoggy, L.A., when Austin comes a-knockin'. We're home to the nation's NUMBER ONE UNDEFEATED local sports team and Lance Armstrong. Live fuckin' strong! And hell, we're gonna have a logo, soon. Show me another city with an improv logo? I don't think so! If you think about it, Lamb really had no other choice.

Which is fine, so long as you brand it under the AIC banner.
We're only a flagship city for a worldwide movement. It isn't a responsibility we asked for, but it has fallen to us after the improv failures of Chicago, New York, and San Francisco. Great experiements, every one, but they are pre-school soda and vinegar volcanoes compared to Austin's splitting of the comedy atom. I mean, let's face it. We are the big bang of improv and the sooner we come to terms with this awesome responsiblity the better for everyone.

Not better than everyone, just you Phil.phlounderphil wrote:Then again, be careful not to become a pompous bastard like that TIGHT troupe, they think just because they're from Chicago that they're better than EVERYONE else, ugh...so disgusting.
Also, only one member of Tight is from Chicago and he doesn't live in Austin. ...dispellin' tha myths...

Oh I know, Jeremy's not FROM Chicago either, he's from Austin just like some of the Tight members. But going to chicago does something to people, does something to their heads.mcnichol wrote:Also, only one member of Tight is from Chicago and he doesn't live in Austin. ...dispellin' tha myths...
Who knows, maybe I'm totally wrong. I haven't left my house in three years and I just get on these online forums to take out my anger which should be directed at my parents. hmm.

arrival
we'll be leaving some time in may depending on if we can make any money performing up here or touring up here. if anyone has any hook-ups with places to live, or is looking for a roommate lemme know. i gotta roll real cheap for a while, but i'm kind of looking forward to roughin it a little. you know, get a bike and ride it. things i never thought i would do after middle school.
anyway, thanks for all your cheers and let me clarify. i'm moving to austin more because it is austin, not because it is not LA. figure that one out.
we will have a huge improv party at my momma's house out in the suburbs once i make it down there. it'll be great.
see you soon. keep your noses clean.

i'm pretty sure bill and his ladyfriend will be coming back with me ina group move. i don't know about ace. he seems to be happy up here and might be setting down roots with his actor-ladyfriend who is quite excited by snow!
anyway, jon and michael joplin are already down there so them moving with me would be time consuming and a waste of money.
