Tuesday Night Jam - 01-02-07

Post by Wesley »

Well, it is 2007 and a whole new year and we all know what that means...the Tuesday Night Jam is back!

Tonight at the Hideout Theatre at 7:00 (until 10:00).

This evening, Christina and I want to work on exercises to help with making and accepting offers, not trying to "fix" an offer you don't like or understand, and exercises dealing with with background environment and characters. The latter two we are mostly making up as we go, so we'll see what happens. But hey, isn't that what improv is all about?

So come on out, shake off the old and make in with the new.
What better way to start off the new year than by flexing those improv muscles (and we both know that working out your improv muscles more was your number one New Year's resolution, don't we).

So, who's in?

So, who's in?
Sara Farr, for starters. (click on that link to remind yourself of when you signed up to help out the jam).

For those who don't know, Sara was one of the original founders of the jam. Kick it old school tonight.
PGraph plays every Thursday at 8pm! https://www.hideouttheatre.com/shows/pgraph/

As usual, I will be there like a vague and generic simile for something that arrives at a location.

Note: I haven't slept since the Same Year's Eve party.

Thank you to those who came out to the jam.

Attendance was lighter than it has been, but that was expected post holidays. About 8 or 9 people showed up at the height of the jam and we did a lot of things we've not played with in that slot before.

Sara, Christina, and myself ran a lot of exercises on accepting, some physical stretching, and physical scene starts.

We also did some exercises on playing purely environmental background characters (like waiters who drop off drinks but neither initiate pointless banter, nor are given any beyond maybe a 'thank you' by the players on stage, people milling about a bus station in the background, but not interacting with the main characters, etc) and we broke up the mock show into 30 minutes of games and a 30 minute scenic montage, which I think went over really well.

Ideas are already brewing for next week, so I hope to see you all there!
