And now for a cheesy reflection on the passing of 2006

Post by Aden »

Thanks AIC. If it were not for the Improv community in Austin, I likely would have left when my life shifted away from the expected. I am so grateful to know such a talented, dynamic and caring bunch of folks. Austin, TX is lucky to have such an asset.

For me 2006 was a year of change. I've shifted back into gear as the Aden I always knew and loved. I struggled through the mire of temping for companies who made the office in Office Space look like a gem. I struggled to let go of a future that really wasn't right for me. I turned my apartment into a bright and cheerful place, filled with color and friends. Most of all I found a city that feels like a great home for my personality. 2007 will see me through another "0" birthday, so I think the changes aren't finished yet...

What about the lot of you? Cheesy reflections to share? Step right up! Don't be shy! How has 2006 treated you? Will you be saying goodbye to an old friend tonight or farewell to a foe?

2006 has been a year of polarity for me. I've had pretty extreme highs as well as lows. My creative life has soared, my understanding of where I am in the world has become more clear and my relationships are stronger than ever. My career path is definitely shifting, my financial life leaves a great deal to be desired and there are significant challenges to my role in my mothers life.
I actually believe that I've grown up quite a bit this year, and I think that the next three will be transformative and I hope in a good way.

I had a great year. Great great year. The middle and the end especially. I'm excited about '07. I'm hoping it will mark the release of my most prized posession from storage back onto the streets.
They call me Dollar Bill 'cause I always make sense.

The first half of 2006, I saw a lot of my goals come to fruition as far as putting out the book, playing mainstage at CIF, seeing all the cities that I got to see (especially London and yes, Austin). Artistically and professionally everything was downright stellar.

Then there was a huge dip in the fall and everything got real bad. Then I took control and start making big decisions which is what leads me to be living amongst all of you fine people.

So there is my 2006.

Here is to my Texan 2007 to being kick-ass.

2006 was a great year for me. 2005 had been a crazy roller coaster - what with graduating and moving away and going to a certain college, finding out that certain college sucked, and moving back.

So 2006 was the year for me to prove myself after doing a complete turnaround. It's been so awesome. I'm think I've done over a hundred shows thanks to many of you fine people. It's been a good year (first full year for the AIC) for improv and a good year in general. It was a real kick ass way to round off a decade (I turn 20 in fourteen days).

wooooo!
spring break!

Let's see... I went to New York, San Fran, & Chicago (and saw some good improv in all 3 cities), saw a lot of GREAT improv here in Austin, the LBs had a pretty good year, I got to use more improv in my classroom which was AWESOME and had great results, we got the Computer Animation degree semi-approved, we got the ball rolling on an "ACC Game Development Institute", and I started work on an animated short for which I'll get my first movie credit. PLUS I got to attend some killer parties...

Improm
Girls of AIC slumber party (x2)
Jen & Erin's backyard party
Coldtowne's house warming & Pool Party
Hover's Evil Blanket house warming party
(but missed most of the OOB parties due to a cold)
Mo & Bob's karaoke party
AIC Family Reunion & Awards night
AIC Same Year's Eve party

All and all, a very good year...

I married that dude I had a crush on 4 years ago. It was the first time a crush turned into marriage for me. IT CAN HAPPEN, PEOPLE.

I also performed 25 shows with Girls Girls Girls, who won some award or such.

I visited the following Canadian provinces: Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Ontario.

I had the largest concentration of my friends in the same room at once, AND THE EVENT WAS CATERED!

I also turned the long-dreaded but oddly enlightened age of 30.

I will always remember 2006 as one of the weirdest years of my life.

I met my dream girl this year at OoB.

I performed in about 80 shows and remember something from most of them.

My car was totaled, but I'm starting to pull out of that financial slump

Sadly, I had to quit my two improv troupes and spread my improv wings.

The sketch troupe I've been trying to put together started to shift from being some bizarre project with new casts every show and with a massive amount of workload for myself and into a troupe. The foundation is being poured in 2007 and thank everyone who been a part of the troupe...whether performing (even in just one show), writing, directing or helping with tech or creative extra elements. Thanks! [click on the website below, it's been updated!]
