talk up SAME YEAR's EVE Show

Post by beardedlamb »

Dudes,
I'm not sure how this will be represented in the Chronicle, as their site has the wrong info up, so we should rely on some word of mouth to spread the good cheer about this show.
It's Saturday.
It starts at 8pm.
It's downstairs.
It's $7 - $10
or free if they mention they're a friend of the AIC, I think. There's is a party that everyone is invited to afterward to ring in the same year.

Alright, let's make this as sweet as last year's with the short time to promote that we have.

Is that true? I thought I remembered a different outcome of the discussion.

$10

No comps. Unless it's press or something like that.

Let's hope the online funkiness has something to do with the Chronicle running a special section for New Year's events. I just sent an email over there gently nudging them for a correct Same Year's Eve listing. Cross your fingers and tell all your friends.

Didn't we decide to let people comp a friend or two?

It was discussed early on, but the consensus seemed to end up being that making more AIC money was the way to go.

Right, check. Let's see what happens with the Chronicle listing on Thursday, and maybe if necessary we'll start throwing comps around.

i'd hate to be a puss in the mud but if the chronicle is totally jacked, is there any way we could start the show later? not only to capitalize on possible micetro crowd showing up, but also just cuz it feels more late nighty to me. i wanted to mention this earlier but i always got sidetracked by something. i totally understand if people hate this cuz it mucks with plans. just wanted to toss it out there.

No, that's a good call. If we get screwed in the Chronicle, let's talk seriously about that.

Can I get a clarification on who is running the Dec 31st show at the Hideout, and whether tickets for the Same Year's show will indeed be sold on the hideout's page? There are some folks at work who want to buy tix but are a bit confused as to how to give us their money. :D

Some of my peeps came to the show last year b/c it was free and seemed
to be a way of saying thanks to people for seeing us.

I know I'm way late in saying this, but I don't see how I'm gonna get folks to come out
and pay $10, especially with New Year's the next day.

Not trying to start up a firestorm b/c I'm sure the decision was made as a group thing at one of the meetings,
but I think that a throw-together show should be a thank you show...not a way to generate funds (except
maybe a small charge to make sure that the party pays for itself).

But who know, maybe it'll be a huge hit even charging folks. And thanks for the work in putting this together.
Is there gonna be any cleaning Saturday before the festivities?

We're all clear with the Chronicle. Brenner has assured us that all will be well. So full steam ahead with the plans that have been laid.

Do we need to institute a last-minute comp policy? Are people freaking out about this? Will your best friend that you desperately want at the show and without whom you're afraid the show won't make not come if it's not free? Discuss.

It's too late to change the show time, but if hoards of people show up expecting a Maestro at 10, maybe we'll give them one -- we'll definitely have the manpower. : )
