from an email i just got:
"Hi Out Of Bounds People,
I hope this finds you well! ComedyNet (www.comedynet.com) is holding a sketch writing contest – I wondered if you wouldn’t mind passing along the attached contest announcement to anyone in the Austin comedy community who might be interested. If it’s possible to send it to your list, that would be great.
Thanks so much for helping us get the word out!
Best Regards and Happy Holidays,

AND THEN A WORD DOC, TOO
"ComedyNet (www.ComedyNet.com), a new broadband comedy channel,
is excited to announce...
THE COMEDYNET OUTSIDE THE BOX SKETCH WRITING CONTEST!
The best and most innovative sketch will be chosen to be
produced, filmed, edited and featured ComedyNet!
THE GUIDELINES:
- MAKE IT ORIGINAL! Copies of SNL or MadTV sketches - no matter how well done - are boring! Unconventional is good. Weird is great. Innovative and smart is the best. Think high concept, well executed, never been seen before.
- MAKE IT HILARIOUS! Anyone can come up with an idea for a sketch. Getting it onto the page and making it work is the hard part. Re-write. Edit. Heighten and tighten. Then prove you've got the comic chops to make us choke on our lunch while we read your script!
- MAKE IT BUDGET-FRIENDLY! If your sketch takes place on a space station, consider that it will be shot in front of a green screen. If it takes place in France, we can buy you a beret and a fake mustache, but we won't be sending a crew to shoot at the Eiffel Tower.
- THINK LIKE A FILMMAKER! Writing a script for a sketch that will be filmed is different than writing a sketch for the stage. Really what you're writing is a short comedy film. Consider visual style, genre and the magic of editing when writing your sketch.
THE RULES:
- 5 pages or less, double spaced.
- No more than 3 locations in any sketch
- No more than 4 characters can speak in one scene
- Each person may submit no more than 2 sketches
Please provide the following information with each entry:
- Your Name
- Your Mailing Address
- Your Email
- Your Phone Number
- The Name of Your Sketch Group (if you have one)
- Your Web Site (if you have one)
- A Brief Bio (400 characters or less)
- Confirmation that the sketch(es) you have written is your own original creation owned 100% by you
DEADLINE FOR ENTRY IS JANUARY 31ST, 2007
