As a fashion authority, I feel I need to weigh in here.

Tom Baker's scarf is cool in the same way as Nicolas Cage's snakeskin jacket in Wild at Heart, it is a symbol of individuality and personal freedom.

I asked my mom to knit me one when I was in the 5th grade and she did.

It's good that you all know who Dr Who/Tom Baker is. I wasn't sure before, but now I'm certain improvisers are all dorks and nerds. And if you now shun Dr Who and his bas-ass scarf it's only because you know you will never ever be as cool as Tom Baker was when I was in the 5th grade.

I knitted a green and cream scarf for my husband. This x-mas I got a slytherine patch to put on it. It is a damn nice scarf. Of course I love geeks so there you go.

I have a Slytherin scarf from England, styled after the uniforms from the first movie. I love it and wear it every winter (I have had it for about 4 winters now).
You're a real HP geek if you can identify the DIFFERENT scarves from each film. They redesign the uniforms for every film for some reason and so there are several different scarf patterns. Personally, I like the Sorcerer's Stone ones best. Big, chunky horizontal stripes of color.

I crochet on the sly for fun and just completed my third scarf (an x-mas gift for Roy's mommy).

The slytherine scarf is from the first movie - with the big chunky colors, but the green is not quite right. I wanted a nice feel for it more than the perfect color. But standing in line for a HP book/movie opening - people know what it is.
